45 Years Late

1 post in this topic

45 years after Doc Jensen's crew was picked up from the burning wreckage of their plane while under fire from the bad guys, the Army helicopter crews that rescued them have finally been awarded the Silver Star. This was one of the planes shot down during the An Loc Airdrops of 1972. The rescue probably saved the lives of the entire crew.

You can easily find all the stories of the Battle of An Loc on the Internet. The crews who recently received the Silver Star for the rescue are the ones who picked up the C-130 crew of Capt. Don (Doc) Jensen after his plane was hit during the air drops and crashed into unfriendly territory.

I work for the Enlisted Heritage Research Institute- Enlisted Heritage Hall at Gunter AFB, Montgomery, Al. We are currently rededicating our Air Force Cross Display and Video. We do not have any photos of Ssgt Charles L. Shaub. I am the graphic artist working on this and I would like any information about relatives or fellow airmen that may have photos of SSgt Charles L. Shaub. I am looking because I don’t like to have blank areas where a heroes photo should be. This would be in a display and on a video played beneath the display.
This is a wonderful Air Force Award Winning level museum.
If you would like to validate this the link is

      and or speak to
CMSgt Fanning or TSgt Sharee Hileman (334) 416-3202

The reason I came to this site is because I can’t find any images and this was the unit he was with in the citation. Althought there is an article about him called the Tennesee Loadmaster. Any info/links/names would be helpful, thank-you
