Hello C-130 world, does anyone have slow TD-valve anticipation on the A-15 models? A colleague of mine in NewZealand had to change the motor and gear train in the valve. Anyone did the same and any SIL or COIL on this? greetz Herky400M

I did it today and a lot of the guys got a real kick out of it. - Pressurize the A/C to around 6 inMg (we were doing a drop check) - Find a roll of toilet paper or paper towel - Put a ratchet, or pen through the roll so it can spin freely - Open up the old Sextant attachment point and hold the roll close to the hole (The attachment point is essentially a 6 inch diameter hole in the plane next to the crew door jettison handle) - What happens is that the A/C pressure sucks the entire roll through the hole out of the top of the airplane to about 15-20 feet straight in the air Here in Canada we call it the "Big Grey Whale" :D

OK, we have an aircraft with a recurring anti-skid issue. If the aircaft is taxiing, going pretty slow, when they step on the brakes, they can feel the brakes pulsating. All the tranducer wiring checks out. The control box gets swapped out, and it works for a few flights, maybe... This last time it was written up by the same crew that had written it up two flights previous. But forget about that, we are assuming it is a real problem. Anybody seen this before?

During ISO inspection we have noticed that the planes that come back from depot have had sealant on the sway brace bolt heads. We can't find in a TO anywhere that says to apply sealant to the bolt heads only to put grease on the bolt itself. Anyone have any input on this. Thanks

Greetings all! I am trying to get a part number for a seal on the radome for a USCG C-130. The seal I am referring to is the D-seal that slides into a channel on the aft upper end of the radome. I have a cage code and a string of other numbers and letters that my research has turned up nothing on. Any and all help is deeply appreciated. Thanks. Ken

I am currently building a 1/72 scale plastic model of a C-130 Blue Angels Fat Albert. How do the rear troop doors open? Do they slide up or do they pivot to the side like an airliner door? I am not talking about the rear cargo door but the 2 right and left troop doors. I have seen some pictures of the interior and it looks like they come in and pivot to the right. However, I though i saw some photos that look like the doors slide up. Can anyone help me?

Is there anything that says an engine run can be performed with a MLG door removed? I know the 71-00-1 pre-engine run inspection checklist says "Closed, Secured," but what about in the event a door is removed?

Hello C-130 world, I need your help:confused:!!(T56-A-15) I have a task looking into a problem: we are struggeling during a few months with: 1) during the latest times we have a lot of cold starts (more than 50% of the fleet) which are starting lower than 750°C TIT or around it (<780°C in several OAT's and hight Levels), but normal start time(<60''). 2) Equal to another problem high FF consumption @ LSGI, HSGI, FI and MAX REV => if I have to plot this, it's out of the charts or in the upper limit.(try this, it's FF VS TorqueVS TIT) So what I'm sure of is that the TD-system functions correcttly, thermocouples=>ok, Thermal block => ok, Y cab…

I have a prop nut that we took out of service due to it not being brass. None of us, even the ones who worked on a's, have seen one like it. I am not sure if it aluminum, titanium or what. It is very light. Also, splines that receive the sweeney stove pipe are only about a quarter inch long, instead of splines on the brass ones that extend the entire ID of the fwd end of the nut. Part number on the nut is: @(circled capital A) ISI 526559. No biggie, just curious as to its alloy. Steve

This a/c is a nightmare. The problem now is the sta.597 vert. beem is corroded beyond limits and has to be changed. When we matched up the new beem to the old, the new is .130 narrower at the bottom than the old one. this is causing a problem for edge distance for the fasteners.I believe we have the 7843161 reinforcement plate installed from and old repair.SRM 53-199-00 AG. Does the 597 beem require a reinforcement plate as the 517 does? All illustrations in the manuals do not show one being installed.

The srm 57-10 states that the tolerances are +2 to -48. I find this impossible. If using the Alt method and multiplying the net weight reading by the arm, there can never be a negative number. I can only conclude that the SRM has a misprint and the correct tolerance should be +2 to +48, otherwise we are in big trouble. both ailerons have had massive repairs done to them, skin replacements, frame repairs and such. If the SRM is misprinted is there anywhere that this is stated? The MRO that I work at does not have access to LockHeed.
