Gomer Pyle (loadmaster) passed away earlier this month in Niceville, FL. He was 78 years old. I knew him from our days in the 463rd TCW in the mid-1960's at Clark AB. I flew with him again from the late 1990's to mid-2003 on the DC-10 at Gemini Air Cargo. RIP. my good friend. Don R.

For those that knew Henry Lupo. I just got a card from Emilie today and she told me that Henry Passed in March of 2007. I was with him at Mactan/Clark in 68-69. I think he went to Langley after that. He, Ray Satterfild and I hung out prettty much. I don\'t think anyone ever knew nicer people than he and Emilie. Jim

Brenda Anderson, Chick's wife, passed away a couple of weeks ago. Chick is at home in Boise. I talked to him about a week ago. He says he's doing fine. If you know Chick and would like to give him a call, drop me a note at [email protected] and I'll give you his number. Brenda was diagnosed with breast cancer around 2007 but she beat it. Then a new cancer was diagnosed about two years ago. Brenda was a really good lady. She was Carolyn's, Chick's first wife, best friend. She went to California to care for Carolyn before Chick retired and they later married.

The WWCT Reunion is scheduled for 21-23 May 2010. Proceeds and donations to support the Combat Talon Memorial Fund. As a Tri-Chair of the Reunion with George Ferkes (7ACS) and Lee Hess (Stray Goose) I am trying to pin down a list of those former CT crewmembers who flew with the 8th SOS only. Most CT people flew in multiple units. Please help me in this endeavour and disseminate this e-mail to all on your mailing list who could assist. Thanks in advance. Regards, Bob Brenci [email protected]

I start to apologize in advance if this subforum is not the proper place to add this thread. Well all i wanted to say is that I'm available for eventual flights (not looking for a career right now). I have a current ATPL(A) C-130/L-382 with IR(ME) and a class 1 medical. I also have experience as an AC in airdrops (CDS, Heavy, paratroopers, door bundles, etc), formation flight (including airdrop in formation) and low level navigation in several parts of the globe. If anyone knows of any options or requests for eventual flights (movements, hauling for depots or similar) please let me know. Thank you in advance

I posted this in the historical section last night but it probably should have gone here. The officers and board members of the Troop Carrier/Tactical Airlift Association proposed and designed a memorial to the troop carrier/tactical airlift mission at our 2014 meeting in Tucson. The funds were raised (some $37,000) and the memorial has been placed at the USAF Museum. The attached special newsletter includes photographs and information about the upcoming dedication at the 2018 TC/TAA reunion in Dayton this October. USAF veteran and historian Dr. Alan Gropman will be speaking on the Battle of Kham Duc.. Memorial Special.pdf

Tonight if the first time I've been on here in a long time. I wanted to mention the passing of my good buddy Roy Michael "Stony" Burk back in early December. Stoney died is injuries from a motorcycle accident in late November. I first met him when he was with 5th Aerial Port in France and caught a ride with me from Pope when my crew was going on rotation. We literally met each other at the door to our new squadron at Robins AFB, GA a few years later and became fast friends. After a year on C-141s at Robins, we got orders to Clark and went over on the same plane after driving across the country together and both went to F Troop. I went to C-5s at Charleston and Stoney went…

Ssgt John Wallace I stationed at Sewart AFB assigned to the 61 squadron from March 1966 thru Nov 7 1969. I was cc on 64531 for over 2 years I also crewed 64529 for a while and another one but don’t remember the tail #. I took 64531 on two 90 day TDYs to Mildenhall England and from there all over Europe, parts of N Africa and Middle East. My final 8 months I was engine run certified and was on call 24 hrs a day 7 a week. I was assigned to the 61 squadron but also ran engines for the 62 squadron. That was when the AF offered everyone a 6 month early out. Most of the skilled airmen got out. Due family reasons I stayed in. Mistake mistake mistake!!! My other job besides being…
