C130Hcc
A C-130 was lumbering along when a cocky F-16 flashed by. The jet jockey decided to show off. The fighter jock told the C-130 pilot, “watch this!†and promptly went into a barrel roll followed by a steep climb. He then finished with a sonic boom as he broke the sound barrier. The F-16 pilot circled back and asked the C-130 pilot what he thought of that? The C-130 pilot said, “That was impressive, but watch this!†The C-130 droned along for about 5 minutes and then the C-130 pilot came back on and said: “What did you think of that?†Puzzled, the F-16 pilot asked, “What the heck did you do?†The C-130 pilot chuckled. “I stood up, stretched my legs, walked to the back, went to the bathroom, then got a cup of coffee and a cinnamon bun.†Morale of the story: When you are young and foolish speed and flash may seem a good thing. When you get older and smarter comfort and dull is not such a bad thing!
bobgrun
Always a good chuckler! Even if this one was an oldie when the fighter was a new F-106.
DC10FE
Or how about the Herc pilot who shut down an engine & then told the fighter puke to try that! Don R.
herkman
Well back in 1958, just before we took delivery of the C130A, we had a USAF C130 doing a tour of Australia. The maritime fellows were full of themselves, Flying 12 year old P2V5 aircraft, which at that stage only had the two recips. They won the best squadron of the year award with a suitable award and parade. As they did a low speed fly over and pull up, right behind them came the USAF C130, Straight over the parade just a little lower than the Neptunes, and as he pulled up in a steep climb, shut down the two outboards.and across the load speakers came the Yank cry, \"lets see you do that. Great days and greater memories. Regards Col
pjvr99
The TransAll C160 can feather props without shutting down engines - makes for a great airshow, belting down the runway at Vmax, feathering just before the crowd, then going into a climb at the end, put the throttles to the wall, climb to +-1000ft, wing-over and battle-drop, full stop landing in less than 1000 feet
DC10FE
When I was flying in Angola, there were a lot of Russian-made Antonovs there. The An-26 could taxi on the thrust generated from its APU, mounted in the aft part of the right wheel well. Quite a sight to see one taxiing around with both props standing tall. Don R. I was all set to cut, copy and paste back into an email.
