james
Just looking at the weather a couple places I was stationed Dover and Langley. Looking at the lows near zero and highs in the teens and twenties, sure am glad I'm not in that weather now. just don't know how all of us adapted. tinyclark
The lighting unit had a warm air outflow that saved my ass several times.
olcatmech2
I remember being a young 3 level electrician on B58's at Little Rock and the crew chief shacks that were little trailers with a desk and room for about 4 men to cram into. Some cold night having to change an upper anti collision light and they were a pain in the rear to get a stupid little light mechanism removed. You ran down the Garwood stand to the crew chief shack for just an instance to get warm. Those days are only good in my memory for sure! DC10FE
Yep, I was a B-52H crew chief at K. I. Sawyer AFB in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Never been so cold in my life! Hated it. Went from there to Norton AFB, CA. Paradise! Don R.
Spectre623
Yep, James I remember Dover's flight line and hated it in the winter. Remember when the whole line was covered with ice which had been blown and frozen in ripples like a scrub board. Pushing powered AGE and stands on it was a killer. Horizontal snow sucked. Matter of fact... I never did like Dover at all or the C-133's. Bill
donwon
We had snow at Sewart one year, 63 or 64 and they closed the flt line for a couple of days.
tinyclark
We had to work C-141s at Rhein Main when Enroute didn't have the personnel (??????). The crew chiefs usually had the APU running and the heat on when it was cold. That didn't suck.
Mt.crewchief
Thanks to my consecutive overseas tour, (Naha to CCK), I didn't have to cope with snow for 33 months. But-- I did get a chance to work in some cold weather and some snow at Dover and it sucked!! Of course working on the C-133's didn't help any!!!
