GTC upgrade to APU

Brochure was pretty straight forward (not trying to pick on the OP) to me. Basically higher output bleed air, ATM and motor eliminated and larger capacity generator mounted on the unit. Replacing the GTC with an APU more or less.

Both of those exec's on the brochure are former C 130 Marines

GTCP85-180L is valid model no for E and H model aircraft, as well as the modified GTC aircraft. Part numbers differ because the -185L used in the upgrade has intake screen rotated requiring relays and other parts to be repositioned.  This means changes to the wiring harness and fuel, oil and pneumatic lines.

 

GTCP85-180L come with part numbers 381116-1- 3/5/6/7/8/9

Legacy C130E/H APU model is GTCP85-180L, PNo 381116-1- 3/5/6/7/8/9 (OEM Lockheed production configuration)

C130 APU upgrade model no GTCP85-180LE, PNo 381116-3 (Kellstrom Defense SHORT-POD(r) GTC-APU UPGRADE)

L382 model no GTCP85-185L, PNo 381252-1-2. (FAA TSO Civil certified APU)

C-130J/L-100J use GTCP85-185-L(A), (FAA TSO Civil Certified, electronically controlled APU)

Interesting to note that the APU could be run inflight (except on commercial Hercs), but not serviced inflight while the GTC could be serviced inflight but not run inflight.  Anyone else see the irony here?

They have sold installation kits to some of the customers who come to CAE Tampa Training Center for initial and refresher training. They seem to be happy with the kit installation.
