  1. I think Sewart had 3. All were 55 year models and had 00 in the S/N. A look at the Sewart F/L picture shows 3 of these planes. I posted that picture some years ago. Don't know where it is now.
  2. There was an old C/C,c tale of a young airman getting hypmotised by one of the spinning props and walking into it and getting all cut up and kilt. I don't know if it was true or not. Anyone else ever hear that?
  3. Wimmen say the darndest things.
  4. I think Cats are posessed. Like wimmen.
  5. T.W. , when I left Sewart 56468 only had a little over 2500 hours on the plane.
  6. After thinking about this for a while, #3 starter went out the most especially when we were on a trip. We would take the starter off and install a plate and shut off the bleed air to the starter then start #4, then 1 & 2 then windmill #3 to start it. When we got to a place that had a starter that would fit we would change it. It happened more than once. Strange how these things pop up nearly 50 years later. Now if I could only remember what I had for breakfast this morning. Better yet what I did with all my money yesterday.
  7. When I was in we started #3 first then #4 and closed the GTC doors before starting #1 &2. I only worked on the A,s.
  8. I measured the crosshairs with my compass and they are not plumb.
  9. That is the plane that was set up for NASCAR oval track raceing. I wondered whatever happened to it.

    P-38

Still got the one I used while I was in. Kept it on the chain with my dog tags.
  13. I used some of those answers to get into the USAF.
  14. I saw that episode last night. Lovely plane. Wish they would have shown more of it.
  15. My way: Eat at Chili's every night and avoid cooking. Chili's don't allow concealed weapons any more around here, and I don't eat at places that don't allow concealed weapons. T hat sign lets robbers know the patrons have already been disarmed and there will be no trouble for them to rob the place.
  16. I reed um wheather good or bad. Sometimes it's the only news of the day.
  17. Use the Nav lights to send Morse Code.
  18. Back when Alexander came up with the band was when their wifes were on that time of the month. The men had nothing else to play so they formed a band and called it Alexanders RAG Time Band.
  19. Happy Birthday to every one that has had, will have or is suppose to have a birthday in 2014, or 2015. It may slip my mind as other things have had so far this year, like my wifes anniversery and V day. Today!

    Great Planes

I worked on some of the first at Naha and Sewart. The nose gear doors opened sideways. Some also had the Roman nose. Most were in the 2000 hour range.
  21. I had one mounted right behind the 245 on every plane I crewed on. Slept on it when TDY a lot also.
  22. I will keep you and the family in my prayers.
