  1. Looks to me like a massive upgrade. As I recall, looks nothing like what we were using then.
  2. 7808 was the engine oil spec for T56 engines. Replaced by 23699. Hyd. fluid was 5606.
  3. I read something a while back that indicated about the only structure to survive was the hotel just inside what used to be the main gate.
  4. Drank lots of coffee in this building. Considering how many years its been since we returned the base to the Germans am guessing this photo in not recent.
  5. True story. I'm avid newspaper reader. However, not so with my kids. So when we visit I'm bitching about not having a newspaper. They finally got the message. When we're coming to visit they have the paper delivered for the period of our visit. And I'm a happy camper.
  6. Darn, Bob, you took the words right out of my mouth. I'm thinking the C-27 will do a great job for the USCG.
  7. Not a big deal, just a couple of small details.
  8. Casey, have several comments, but need to do some research to ensure I know what I'm talking about.
  9. Thanks Casey for the clarification. Makes sense.
  10. I'm puzzled by the fact the aircraft appears to be a MATS assigned aircraft but the squadron credited with the accomplishment is one assigned to TAC. What am I missing?
  11. If I were a sh 25 year old Lt. just graduating from upt and was told my next assignment was a drone outfit I would immediately begin exploring my get out options.
  12. Read in the Dayton Daily News today the AF is considering using enlisted troops to pilot drones. As I posted here a couple of years ago a 25 year old SSgt who has been playing video games forever would make a great drone pilot. Cheap too.
  13. As I recall, all 54 year aircraft as part of the gunship modification included removal of the APS 42 radar (roman nose) and installation of APN 59 radar. Except, as Bob stated, tail # 626.
  14. Good Morning Bob, I was out at WPAFB area B yesterday and spotted an ex-Little Rock herc parked in front of the restoration hanger. Didn't get the tail number but if you need it let me know and I'll get it for you. Best Regards, Myers Hi Larry I got some good pics of 62-1787 last month, an ex Little Rock bird, outside the Museum. I did not see one by the restoration hangar. If you get a chance could you get the tail number of the other one. BTW we missed you at the 316th Reunion this year. Bob
  15. There are at least two things that move very very slowly in our country. The justice system is one and the other is AMP. At ASD we began to have meetings concerning AMP in the mid 90s
  16. If there was a requirement to match mlg ballscrews by manufacture the technical order would so state. Absent such guidance the issue becomes a nonissue.
  17. Bob,Sounds to me like a case of the tail wagging the dog. Is your contractor applying pressure to accomplish compressor blade cascading on your Herk. T56 engines? If so, your his customer, so insist he provide you the written FAA/EASA guidance that permits the compressor maintenance it seems your contractor is advocating. I agree wholeheartedly with Fritz. Further, am surprised your contractor who is evidently a certified FAA/EASA company would, in good conscience, recommend a procedure meant only for engines operating in a nonflying environment. Do you have access to a Rolls Royce rep?
  18. John, And they pay you to do this stuff. I'm sure there are many loadies on the forum who would kill for your job. lol I've said this before but your 58 year old Herk looks brand new. Your hereby tasked to keep this stuff coming.
  19. I'll bet this decision is creating an uproar in the French aviation community.A400s' just became cheaper to buy.
  20. I read somewhere this helmet costs $400.000.
  21. The air force did the same thing with the EF-111A fleet. Deactivated them all. And then had to borrow EA-6s' from the navy. The 55th SRW doesn't seem to be too concerned. I bet their reaction would be much different it the issue was RC-135s.
  22. Very tough to keep a Herk crew chief and a truck driver to boot...down. Glad to hear your better. Have an enjoyable trip.
  23. Yes Bob, got them Answered your email...finally.
  24. Ernie, What a fine job. I'm guessing she looks the best she has ever looked.
