  1. The lack of signal wouldn't have affected the VOR, I don't think. It is possible the system was picking up noise or the lack of load on the receiver antenna connector caused a fault. One side being off certainly should have screwed up the localizer.

  2. I apologize if my question offended you. I grew up as a military USAF brat and have lived all over the world. I have never heard that term used in maintenance terms, so just wanted to know what part of the world "snag"comes from. Also, I am an Avionics dude, not engines.

    And, I have to add, grow some thicker skin. Aircraft maintainers don't get offended by anything really. Good luck solving your problem.

  3. It is not real simple, and it has been 7 years since I retired. WR-ALC recorded the information on aircraft flights for the USAF. Aircraft flight data was tracked as far as profile, number of landings during a sortie, air drops and flight patterns among other things. There was a multiplication factor used depending on all of the parameters.  This was multiplied by actual flight hours to get the EBH. Aircraft that just flew around in circles or straight easy flights had a low multiplication factor. Other missions required harder movement of the aircraft, so those had a higher factor. The engineer that ran  the EBH study was Mr. Peter Christiansen, head of C-130 Engineering. I have no contact info for him, but I assume he still works at Warner Robins ALC, Georgia.

  4. Yea, they all went to DRMO I believe. I could have gotten one back then as well. That's OK, my box came out good and he loves it. The master power switch has a red switch guard on it, and it has 14 LEDs that light up with toggle and push switches.

     

  5. Are you talking about maintenance? If so, the old system of 9  or so volumes is over with. As a matter of fact, the old -2-X series isn't even supposed to be used. The newer OMMS style manuals have to be used. There is now a: 130J-2-00GV-00-1 GENERAL VEHICLE MANUAL which covers general serving, parking, mooring, etc.

    General System (GS) Manuals. The GS manuals provide detailed system and subsystem description, as well as theory of operation. Separate GS manuals are provided for each system.


    Job Guide (JG) Manuals. The JG manuals provide detailed start-to-finish, step-by-step maintenance procedures. The step-by-step instructions are fully illustrated with facing-page art except for steps that reference other data. Switches, controls, and indicators shown in the illustrations may not be shown in the position required by the text. Each JG manual is divided into tasks that cover a particular maintenance action such as rigging, removal and installation, operational checkout, etc.

    There are some 25 GS manuals and hundreds and hundreds of job guides.

    This is on all tech manuals.
