First (which it sounds like you already have) make sure Gen and VR are from the same manufacture and compatible, been a long time but different manufactures have different excitation voltage requirements.
Yes, that was done. GE gen with GE VR while Bendix gen was with Bendix VR.
-
The GE voltage regulator burns each time we run the engine. We have replaced 3 voltage regulators and they all got burnt. We also replaced generator. When we installed Bendix, we had high voltage. Anyone with idea of what could be causing this?

Has this issue been solved? It looks like the leak is further forward at the #2 fuel tank. Have you filled the tank to about 50% full and ten no loaded the wings to flex the wing? It looks like a cracked wing plank under #2 fuel tank. I have a simular incident with a C-130E, 62-1826 while flying to Japan from California. No signs of a fuel leak on the ground but leaked in flight. At Yokoda, they no loaded the wings and behold, a fuel leak. A 4" crack span wise in the #3 lower plank.
Yes. The problem has been solved. We applied sealant to tank #2 and allowed it to cure very well. Now, there is no more leak and the aircraft is back in service.

"not supply air" - do you mean load control valve is not opening, or load control valve is not holding load?
We believe the load control valve is not opening. We confirmed that the load control valve is not the issue because we tested it on another APU and it worked.
-
Our GTC85-180L APU starts and runs well. However, it doesn't supply bleed air. We have isolated the load control valve. We equally isolated the APU control switch as well as pressure regulator. We cleaned in-line filter. Despite these steps, APU still doesn't supply bleed air. It is strange to us and I am wandering if anyone has had this type of experience before and the possible solution. Thanks.

GTCP85-180L starts and run well. However, no bleed air from the APU. Load control valve replaced with new one but no change. In addition, APU doesn't shut down normally unless by the pull of fire handle. Any help please?
Aircraft type is C130H.

C130 autopilot engages but doesn't couple. Coupler/controller, amplifier and servo motor replaced but discrepancy persists. Anyone with any idea to solve this problem? Thanks.
New primary servo motor for elevators and ailerons installed. System undergoing test. Outcome would be made known.

Check your vent lines inside the tanks; a cracked vent pipe will let fuel into the system and can vent overboard.
Ok, we will do that. However, will the venting pass through the normal vent or can leak as shown in the video?

Dear friend is the was fuel leak at the time of landing??? I means when u were descending the plane was there fuel leackage exist or were stoped???
The fuel leak stopped during landing. The crew said the fuel blown off during landing was suspected to be from the residual fuel accumulation during the leak in flight.

good morning sir, ask the flight crew if they were pumping out of the external tanks when this happened and also i believe the apu fuel is a direct feed from # 2 main tank check recent maint. on both and look at plumbing. a clogged or fowl vent on # 2 main also creates problems good luck frank
Thank you very much. We will follow your recommendations.

Has anybody experienced fuel leak that occurs only in flight but not on ground. Our C130H recently leaked fuel from the No2 Main Tank, trailing edge of the wing. I attached a video showing the leak.
-
We jacked up the aircraft and flexed the left wing, simulating flight mode. Yet, we couldn't replicate the leak on ground. Gentlemen, any suggestions on how to locate the leaking point?
-
Gentlemen, regarding the APU that quits after 8 to 20 minutes, a new centrifugal switch was installed and the APU has been operating properly now.

-
Please replace the centrifugal switch with a new one and try running the APU again.

C130 experts,..i have a problem on C130H...my aircraft got visible fuel leak on port aft wing...which is visible in flight above 6000 ft in flight....we have rectified plumbings in dry bay, flap area, drain system, yet fuel leak still persists in flight. The leak happens only in flight...we have replaced o rings at fuel pipeline at flap area..fuel leak still persist...any suggestion guys.. I have attached a video of the latest leak.

When it stops can you start it up immediately without any issues?
Help narrow the fault by running it for 20 min with the bleed air valve closed. Does it stop?
Our GTC85-180L stopped at 20 minutes with bleed air valve closed. What is the likely cause please?

Ok was just curious. Gonna go out on a limb here because we had something similar
last year. Try replacing flexible oil hoses to and from the oil tank, and make sure the
rigid lines and the tank are clean and free of contaminants
Thanks buddy. We will try this suggestion and let you know the outcome.

How much fuel is in the #2 tank?
It is more than the required 2000 pounds minimum.
Voltage Regulator Problem
in C-130 Technical
Posted · Edited by Shola
Thank you all, particularly NATOPS1, for your assistance. The problem has been rectified. We started by ensuring that there was no known short in the electrical lines. Thereafter, we replaced the voltage regulator, generator control panel and, most importantly, the #2 contractor. We carried out engine ground run and there was no more burning of the voltage regulator.
