Start TIT was 1680F RPM is 73 Percent and Fuel Flow is over 800PPH

    Some more Troubleshooting:

    • Bleed Air Valves do not open  during start
    1. Check Speed Sensitive Valve
    2. Remove and clean / Replace Bleed air valves Teflons
    • Anti-Icing Valves Open during start
    1. Check anti-icing valves

    Hope to be Helpful!

I have an old 501D13, (T56)  built in 1954.  We use it to pull air through a wind tunnel.  I had to swap it out with an engine that was sitting in an engine can for 5 years.  The new engine is giving me hot starts and high fuel flow at ground idle.  I checked and rechecked the rigging.  Swapped the TD valve and fuel control.  This engine is unique, it does not have a TD amp, or TD control.  Any ideas at what else I can look at or swap out to see if I can get this problem fixed?  Its a difficult problem to diagnose because its run by a computer using a PLC.

    Hi!!!

If you have already checked the rigging, you have to register START TIT, RPM and FUEL FLOW (as said by pjvr99), if those values are too high, check the LSGI regulation on the FCU. Assuming that the engine works full mechanically (NO TD Amplifier), The Temperature and RPM are in accordance with the Fuel supplied by the FCU.

If you reach on a good compromise (TIT and RPM) at LSGI you will have good values at HSGI.

GTCP85-180L starts and run well. However,  no bleed air from  the APU. Load control valve replaced with new one but no change. In addition,  APU doesn't shut down normally unless by the pull of fire handle. Any help please?

    Hi !

Did you checked the Overspeed Solenoide, Valve?

Did you preformed the continuity checks on both electrical plugs (on Load Valve and Solenoid Valve)?

The Filter Between the Load Valve and the Solenoid Valve is clean and Tightened?

Just some questions and some leads!

    Kindest Regards!!

Hi dear paulo, LSGI RPM is 75% & NGI RPM is 95% , what will be ur decision in this situation. How we increase NGI RPM ? Regards

    Dear Ahmer,

is a relation of speed and fuel!

More rotation on the Flying Weights of FCU, than more fuel added on both situations!

    Regards!

Not for this problem Paulo. I have previously had LOW SPEED GROUND IDLE rpm

that was either to low or high. Low GROUND IDLE/FLIGHT IDLE rpm can not be

    adjusted on fcu.

As you can see the Low Speed Ground Idle is Adjustable on the FCU.

If you have the RPM's very low, you must adjust them between 96.3 and 99.1 for High Speed Ground Idle.

When you adjust LSGI on FCU, it will increase the HSGI.

    Regards!!

OK brand spanking new FCU and GI rpm is 96.2%. Still lower than what I'm used to

seeing, but at least the FSR will engage the generator.

Hi pjvr99, do you have adjusted the LSGI on FCU?

    Sorry for all the questions.

    SO I fully understand:

How much fuel is in the number 2 tank?

    MORE THEN 2500 Lbs

Do you turn ON the fuel boost pump in the number 2 tank when operating the APU?

    NOT APPLICABLE iaw CHECK LIST!

When you start the APU it will run normally with the bleedair valve CLOSED and generator OFF; WILL it run for more than 20 min in this configuration?

    YES! IT RUNS WITHOUT PROBLEMS!

Will the APU run with the bleedair valve OPEN and gen OFF for more than 20 min?

YES! IT RUNS WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM!

When you turn ON the GEN how long before the APU stops?

    20 Min APROXIMATELY, THEN STOPS!

Are you starting the APU with BATTERY power only or is External power unit connected?

NORMALLY WE HAVE THE EXTERNAL POWER CONNECTED!

    Ok good.

The APU stops when you turn on an air conditioner, yes? Watch the EGT and see what it is reading when it stops.

Can you start an engine with the APU or does it stop?

The APU stops when i connect the generator and when i open the Bleed Air Valve!

Yes i can start an engine with he APU!

As NATOPS1 asks, can the APU be restarted immediately or do you need to wait for a

    time?

    It Starts normally!

Likely causes can be oil pressure (PRESSURE SWITCH CHANGED), load control/acceleration thermostat (CHANGED AND CALIBRATED), faulty

overspeed solenoid ( CHANGED), or some electrical interruption (??????). If you have an APU test stand

available, I would recommend running the APU there and try to duplicate the

problem. (WE DONT HAVE ANY AVAILABLE ON SITE)

I am not sure what you mean by burning. Are they actually overheating and smell burnt when the aircraft lands? Or do they just shut down and not come back on when the aircraft is sitting on the ground? Have you tried changing the antenna anyway, or swapping it with another antenna from a different aircraft?

    Hi Tiny,

When we pass from warm up to Map the R/T just shuts down because it seams to burn the power supply. we have changed the antenna, swapped with onother palne, it's the same!!

The other problem is : when we are able to put the system running (because it works some times) we have only three little dots in the center bottom of the dysplay.

  11. CAN SOMEONE GIVE ME SOME LIGHT, PLEASE????

    APU START - NORMAL / RPM - NORMAL / TEMPERATURE - NORMAL

    GENERATOR - ON

    BLEED AIR - OPEN

20 MINUTES OF OPERATION IN THIS CONDITIONS AND THE APU STOP'S.

WHITH NO CHARGE APPLIED (NO GEN AND NO BLEED) THE APU WORKS NORMALLY!

  12. Hi Gary!

We have already checked the waveguide!

the problem is that when the plane is grounded, everything seams to be normal apart the colors (just in the bottom of the display.)

when the plane goes in flight R/T burns. Is this a sign of over consumption?

  13. HELLO!!

I'm having a problem with this type of weather radar!

R/T (Receiver / Transmitter) P/N-2070401-0101 are burning all the time when the plane goes in flight.

Displays (Pilot and Navigator) in Test Mode and Mapping only shows the three colors on the bottm of the displays, even if we change the Range!

Thanks in advance for your help!

    Best Regards!!!
