  1. I seem to remember the swing window incident at Yokota...had it happed to me before as well. Me; well if there is a voltage on a herk, I most likely got hit by it. Like the time at Yokota when I needed to change the pilots radar scope to a SKE scope after I ran up the radar. Well, after I shut down the radar I didn't pull the breakers (in a hurry) and when I disconnected the high voltage cable some metal shavings hit the center conductor and arc'd to my middle finger on my right hand and exited out my right elbow into the co-plt's swing window. I flew back into the seat while raking my knuckles on the overhead panel. I think it was a crew chief that was doing forms said my hair was smoking! I found my glasses on the top nav bunk and both my hands were bloody from the overhead panel. The E & E shop was pissed afterwords because I fried the NESA heating in the swing window and it had to be changed. I swear my mouth tasted like a burned out light bulb for 3 days! After that they started calling me "Redd the walking resistor".
  2. Hey Venom, long time! I sure do remember the ZZ Top send-off when we were @ KFIA. As I recall we had some good times while in the desert and of course the UNFORGETTABLE return thru India & Thailand. Now that I'm an old & crusty retiree I am @ Cannon as a contractor working on the Silent Shield program with our -130's. Drop me a line so we can catch up! Redd
  3. Toma, It was a beautiful moment as well as a very emotional one. My Dad was unable to attend my retirement ceremony due to his poor health but he was there in spirit and my brother filled in for him. I am also sorry for the loss of your Dad. I do not know what I'll do when my Dad passes; which I fear is soon. We have such a strong bond. Thanks for your story.
  4. Just returned from visiting my folks in Granville, NY. I "sprung" my 74 year old Dad from the nursing home and took him to our town's local park where we watched the Memorial Day Parade conclude and the laying of wreaths at our hometown veterans monuments. I stood with my father and we both saluted together during the raising of the flag. It was very emotional as we had never done that before. He was a 23 yr AF vet and was a loadmaster & combat controller; qual'd on C-47, C-119, C-123, C-124, C-130, C-141 & C-5. It was the most beautiful day and I will never forget it.
  5. I sure remember that damn IP-268 scope! Got nailed a couple times as a young airman at Little Rock trying to adjust center dot. I even had one implode/explode while changing the CRT...talk about messing your pants!!
  6. Everyone, found out today that our very own Casey made MSGT! Way to go!!
  7. As a contractor out here at Cannon working the "system in the back", 1306 does a great job! Now if they could only get SCNS to work on 1051 things would be great...
  8. I was right there with you Woody!! How have you been?? Redd
