Did my 20 years, started out on F-111F's as a crew chief, got out of the Air Force during the Korean axe incident in August 1976. A year later came back in and ended up on C-130's as a crew chief and retired out of AFSOC. Sounds so simple doesn't it. Oh I drank a lot of beer in those 20 years.

  1. You fucking sorry assed piece of shit.

  2. I do believe there was a Lockheed newsletter suggesting that the scissors should be disconnected for all towing. You would have to do some research on that. It takes all of 2 minutes to disconnect the scissors, don't understand why you don't. I wonder what would happen if the tow bar was connected to the aircraft, but not the tug, ground test valve tied, aux pump turned on and nose wheel turned in one direction or the other, would the nose wheel steering center and some poor individual get knocked on his butt by the tow bar?
  3. Not quite sure why that would be history, but hey it got the locals excited.
  4. I wonder if there is a issue inside the strut causing it to bind up. Are the brakes dragging? Good luck.
  5. I looked at a few of those issues, didn't really see anything. The removal of the ODS was at depot level, but would think there is a tcto number for that. I really don't think he will ever find anything even close to what he has. Such as it is. Have a good day.
  6. Tiny, Due to boredom, went searching via images for tail numbers with the ODS installed. 69 5820, 5823, 5826, 5827, 5828, 5830, 5831, 5832, 5833 65 0962, 0968, 0974, 0982, 0983, 0984, 66 0221 Those are the ones I could find, so suspect most of the HC-130 fleet had them. Although I do remember some didn't since we used the ods to remove benson tanks and can remember from that. Gary
  7. Good luck, I don't remember when the King birds had the ods removed, but guessing in late 80's. Hopefully someone can help you out here, I went thru my photos, but have nothing. sorry.
  8. Those aren't loading strakes. Those are rails from the old ODS system. (overhead delivery system). This was removed from the HC-130's years ago.
  9. That looks like sheet 1 of 4, I wonder if he looks at sheet 4 may find what he is looking for.
  10. I noticed an Air America type looking herk next to where I work. No tail number, just the N number N2731G above the troop door area. I don't ever remember seeing one like this before, from what I can tell Tepper flys this puppy. I wonder what the chances of me getting on board to look at it? Gary
  11. Zak passed away on Friday from what I understand. Viewing is Tuesday from 2-9pm at E.J. Mandziuk funeral home at 3801 18 Mile rd sterling heights, Mi. Burial is at Great Lakes National Cemetary in Holly, Mi at 1:30pm.
  12. This may not be much help, but I balance helicopter blades and water incursion is a problem. Could you have water or foreign material in it?
  13. Back in 1992 the Peruvian fighters shot down a U.S. C-130. I have noticed there really is not much talk about that.
  14. Too bad you can't pressurize the tank with a mixture of nitrogen and Helium, then get a helium detector and start sniffing. I use one at work, pretty cool system.
  15. If you have one bad and have all the panels off, why not change them all? Might save a lot of grief down the road.
