I drafted the following in response to a question from Lars. I miss Jansen Ng. He used to keep us updated. Can anyone give us current status? Thanks Bob The picture is of the 3 Herks at Trenton. Last I heard the Canadians were still flying 6 E’s 305,308,319,323,327,328. Most likely to be parked soon, if not already. There were 9 E’s at Abbotsford in various states of storage 306,307,310,315 a GIA,316,320,324,325,326 There were three at Trenton to be broken up 311,317 and 314. 314 was originally supposed to be preserved at the Museum. But 314 was in very sad shape and was replaced by 313 at the Museum. One was supposed to go to the Museum at Greenwood an…

From an e-mail forwarded by Dave LeMaster: AC-130U Gunship lands at LaGuardia I don't ever remember this happening before, but "Way to GO NY"! Our last AC-130 crew traveling home from Iraq was diverted to LaGuardia Airport for a mechanical problem. They were thankful that such a busy airport allowed them to land there. They were absolutely surprised and overwhelmed by the incredible "Heroes Welcome Home" that they received. The crew didn't expect any sort of fanfare, but you can see from the pictures that LaGuardia went all out. Thank you to those wonderful folks at LaGuardia who made our troops feel so special! CMSgt Samuel F. McGoldrick (Retired) under went heart valve replacement surgery Wednesday a week ago. The surgeon had to perform a By-pass and eliminate false electrical impulses as well. Sam has been in a sedated state for an entire week to allow healing to occur. Tomorrow (Thursday) the Physician is going to first remove a bladder pump that has been used to assist his heart during recovery. Sam has been holding his own, Pulse, Pressure, Temperature, Urine flow are all great. The breathing and feeding tube will probably remain a while. I do not know when they will allow Sam to wake from sedation. Sam is in the ST Vincent’s infirmary Hospital in Little Rock Arkansas. St…

I was on the SCNS mod team at Little Rock afb in '91-'92, and was wondering how many E models were given this mod, and if any of the others from that team are on this board?

Here is a great video of a 41st Airlift Squadron C-130J flying over California. It was professionally made with AMC's blessing and has some amazing shots. It's 11 minutes long but well worth watching. Enjoy

The below poem was published in USAFA's "CHECKPOINTS" alumni magazine, March, 2012 edition. It is a true story about a father and son. Hope everyone likes it. Crew Chief Dream Done with the Air Force I would be. Back from "Nam" in sixty nine, my active duty complete. But what might lie ahead for me? Just a kid, I crewed a Herc for the 374th. An "A" model to be exact. Her name was 55-007 as I recall, but now, just a memory for us all. Now business, school, a ski mountain in Vermont. What more could a single guy want? Next, marriage and a family you see, "truely blessed" my friends would say to me. Then a son arrived, handsome, curious, and smart…

Leon Panetta visited CRB a few days ago...wonder if he stayed on Herky Hill, ha ha. Says he wants more access to CRB and VN. Ok you Herk troops, get ready for CRB rote inputs. What is that old saw...what goes round comes round or history repeats itself etc. Hard to believe these clowns running the show now. Bill

You guys will get a kick out of this. Wife (of 38 yrs) and I are driving up the road and I'm discussing the upcoming C-130 convention at Robbins. After a few minutes she says to me: "I wish you would talk to me as romantically as you talk about that airplane!" I think she was only partly kidding........Chris

Filmed a couple months ago in Coolidge, AZ Our latest TV show appearance, Top Gun Korea. The storyline was that the first parachute failed. Didn't surprise me as there was nothing but a block of styrofoam in the parachute bag. That first car was really flat after it hit. So, the story goes, they had one more chance to get it right but the host of the show had to jump in with it. He acted scared but had it been me, there wouldn't have been any acting required. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_u8kTLiASg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NUhBcIHdjGk John L

http://www.airforcetimes.com/news/2012/01/airforce-dod-proposes-to-cut-7-squadrons-cancel-c27-012612/ The Pentagon has announced some plans to get rid of 65 of the oldest C-130's. Its at the bottom of the attached article. My question is, where are the oldest C-130's located (base) and is there a list on the here or on the internet some where else that shows where all the Herks are? I wonder what kind of shake up this would create for the 130 world? ie. If they take away planes from Little Rock where would they back fill those from...

http://www.macon.com/2012/05/08/2018773/c-130-pilot-sees-plane-for-first.html - I put this in the Video and Image section originally as a response to Chris Shutz' thread about his visit to the Robins Museum but since it's news, it belongs here. I talked to Mack right after the airplane went to Robins and at the time he didn't know if it was the airplane he flew or not. Crawford Ingraham was his engineer and Al Collins from 5th APS at Evreux was second loadmaster. He couldn't remember who his crew loadmaster was. There is an article about the airplane's delivery at www.troopcarrier.org/convention.html. Mack is planning to attend. There's a lot of information about Dragon R…

Hi everyone... I'm doing this on behalf of my father Joe Davidson. Trying to find the blanket orders with his name on them for VA benifits. He has prostate cancer and they will not give him the credit for being at CRB because he has no food vouchers or the orders that came with them. He has had 2 people that went with him to CRB to send in certified letters saying he was there at the same time with them even had his former supervisor send in a letter to no avail. The 2 people that was with him were Chuck Miller and his brother Al Miller they was on the 2nd sheet of the orders but my father was on the first sheet. If anyone knows of anybody who was in the Crew Cheif part o…
