Overview

The person filling this position should be a seasoned aviation maintenance management professional with heavy maintenance and fleet management experience.  The primary responsibility of this position is to manage scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of the company’s mixed fleet of Lockheed C-130 and Boeing 757 aircraft to ensure safety, regulatory compliance, and operational readiness.

Key Responsibilities

·       Ensure company aircraft are airworthy and available to conduct revenue operations.

·       Monitor and communicate current and projected maintenance status of company aircraft to company management.

·       Ensure compliance with company inspection program, applicable Federal Aviation Regulations, airworthiness directives, and company policies.

·       Prioritize fleet maintenance requirements.

·       Formulate short and long-term maintenance department plans for company approval.

·       Plan and coordinate the fleet maintenance schedule, assign maintenance tasking, and manage maintenance activities of department personnel as well as 3^rd party maintenance providers.

·       Ensure maintenance-related documentation is complete, accurate, accessible, and maintained in accordance with company policies.

·       Manage a continuous improvement program for company maintenance practices and policies.

·       Maintain a working relationship with outside support entities and regulatory authorities.

·       Manage the maintenance of the company inspection program and its revision process.

·       Coordinate with company Safety Department to identify and resolve safety issues related to maintenance.

·       Manage other related company initiatives as requested.

Key Success Factors

·       Managing maintenance department personnel to deliver performance results to meet business objectives

·       Collaborating effectively with Director of Operations and company management to improve efficiencies to optimize department performance

·       Ability to traveling internationally (usually less than 20 days per year) to conduct management visits of remote company maintenance sites

·       Facilitating collaboration as part of a team

·       Communicating effectively and managing expectations of company leadership

·       Anticipating and prioritizing needs of aircraft undergoing simultaneous maintenance activities

·       Maintaining commitments and prioritizing own actions through self-accountability and discipline

Experience & Qualifications

·       Minimum 7 years of experience maintaining heavy fixed-wing aircraft is required

·       Experience managing multiple aircraft is required

·       Experience managing a team is required

·       5 years of experience maintaining C-130 and/or 757 aircraft is preferred

·       FAA A&P certificate is preferred

·       FAA Inspection Authorization (IA) is preferred

As we proceed with the migration, we will update this post with additional information; please review it periodically.  Feel free to reply to this topic with any feedback and/or questions you may have.

Why the change was made

About a year and a half ago, a new version of the software suite that the old site used was released and the old version (ours) is no longer supported.  Without a supported version, we are no longer able to apply version upgrades/patches and therefore, it has become increasingly difficult to secure the site and to ensure compatibility with new browsers, programing languages, etc.

We would have been happy to up grade to the new version but unfortunately, the new version did not have all the features (a gallery and a content management system to name two key elements).  Despite promising to release updates and add additional features, they have made little progress in developing a product that meets our needs.    After a year and a half of waiting, we had no choice but to move forward with a new software suite.  It is what's best for the long term viability of the site.

What can I do if I am having trouble loading/browsing the site?

• Probably a few more that I can't think of right now...

What you can do to help

• If there are missing attachments in your posts and if you still have the original attachment, please edit the post and reattach the images.   This has the potential to decrease my work load drastically.
• Most importantly, have faith.  This community is extremely important to me and I will always do what's best for it. Just as we did following the upgrade a few years back, we will be glad that we made the change.

• Added Nose Art Section. As with everything, I will add more images as time permits.

I have secured the rights to the domain C-130Hercules.com and I have forwarded the domain to C-130Hercules.net. The site can now be accessed via either address but the site's official name will remain C-130Hercules.net.

As I am sure you all can imagine, entering histories for 2,400 pus aircraft is quite an undertaking for one person. It is my hope that the community will join in and help me push the project forward. Please help me by adding/updating entries and/or encouraging persons with firsthand knowledge of the aircraft to add entries and/or funnel info to us.

Here's how it works:

1) On the right side of each history entry, there is a pencil icon and a plus symbol icon. Members who are logged in can click them to edit the entry (pencil) or to add a new entry (plus symbol).

Note: If you are not logged-in the icons will be grayed-out and inoperable.

2) After clicking one of the two icons, the data entry page will load. The page's data fields will be prepopulated with the data from the entry you clicked the icon in step 1.

Note: I chose to prepopulate the data for new entries as well as for entry edits to decrease the amount of typing required. (Only a portion of the data typically changes from entry to entry.)

3) Edit the data fields to edit the original entry (if you clicked the pencil) or to create a new entry (if you clicked the plus).

4) After making edits, click the "update/add entry" button.

5) The entry confirmation page will load, click the "Return to Details" button.

6) You will then be taken back to the aircrafts profile page. You will be able to see your added/updated entries in the "Aircraft History Entries Awaiting Approval" blocks located just below the "Aircraft History" Block.

Note: You will only be able to see entries that you have added/edited.

I have moved the Google custom search to the left side of the main page and set it to display the results in a new window. If you have not discovered/used it yet, check it out. It is best way to locate info on the site. It is so powerful that it will match words in attached/hosted Excel docs, Word docs, PDF docs etc. Opinions?
