I know that some of the Type II\'s that I flew/maintained fire fighting had antenna hole patches all over the airframe, some in the area of the upper antennas in the picture. HerkPFE Posted November 4, 2007 Share Posted November 4, 2007 Here is a question for you old time AF guys, did the AF ever do the Navy type VQ mission prior to the Navy getting C-130\'s for the mission? The Navy VQ missions had a long wire antenna to use VLF freq\'s to relay message traffic to subs underwater. Lars has it delivered to the USAF in 1957 and first reported at the 4442 CCTW at Sewart in 1964. Could this have been used as a RC bird. With the windows that far up kind of doubt if they had guns shooting out there. But you never know.
