Lynden has positioned a L100-30 Hercules aircraft in Australia and another in Singapore to fly relief supplies into the disaster areas and has been flying missions since Oct. 1. Lynden operates a fleet of six Hercules around the world specializing in remote site services and requires minimal equipment for loading and offloading. "We will continue to provide relief flights as required to assist in the recovery efforts of the devastated areas. Our aircraft are ideally suited for this work and our crews and support personnel are rapidly responding to bring aid to those in need," says Lynden Air Cargo President Judy McKenzie. Lynden Air Cargo is one of the Lynden family of companies, whose combined capabilities include: truckload and less-than-truckload transportation, scheduled and charter barges, rail barges, intermodal bulk chemical hauls, scheduled and chartered air freighters, domestic and international air forwarding, international ocean forwarding, customs brokerage, trade show shipping, remote site construction, sanitary bulk commodities hauling, and multi-modal logistics. ArcticHerc
Okay... so I'm all about getting out the info that Lynden is responding and working to bring relief to these folks... BUT... both planes were already in the places stated in the release. One in Cairns and the other in Singapore. Good on them for getting some flights out of FEMA. If the average American knew how poorly organized these folks were, you'd all be even more scared. After Katrina, you'd swear they'd be better at responding. Anyhow... good on you folks that are down there getting the job done!!! and helping people who really need help... But.. no need to make it seem more dramatic than it already is. It's a really amazing role you're already playing down there.

Steve1300
It sounds like, from these posts, that FEMA is responding to these disasters in Indonesia. Is that correct?
spec13fe
Steve' Think FEMA is only doing Somoa. But then it a US goverment thing ? Mike
Steve1300
Well, we don't own Samoa. We are not even considering it to become a State. FEMA is now an International Organization? I'm not sure how this works, but since it is only taxpayer money, it is OK< I guess.
ArcticHerc
FEMA / US Government aid = All the same thing...
BobWoods
There is the Samoa island group and a part of that is American Samoa that is a U.S. Territory.
501-D22A
I got a kick out of this article. It makes it look like Lynden specifically positioned those aircraft there for these relief flights, and that they are doing these missions out of the goodness of their hearts. As much of a "class act" that this company is, they are a commercial business, and as such, profit is the driving factor. If something else paid more, that is where their aircraft would be.
