Railrunner130
I'm still a little confused here... OK Citys' 78s went to Pittsburg. Where did Pittsburgs' airplanes go? Nashville's 89-90s either became Gunship/Talons or went to Niagara. Where did Niagaras' go? As far as I can tell, the 440th totally relocated to Pope, but did not pick up any airframes. I was under the impression that they were supposed to get more. I understand St. Joe's airplanes are supposed to start moving to Little Rock ANG. Are they getting Mansfields? bobdaley
OKC to Pittsburgh Pittsburgh to Pope 440th unit and aircraft from Milwaukee to Pope. Gives Pope 16 of the same model. It has active duty associate unit Minneapolis Reserve to Niagra Falls. NF ends up with 12 of the same model and an ANG associate unit. Niagra Falls to Minneapolis Reserve Nashville kept 5 sent 4 to Niagra Falls 1 to Wilmington 6 to AFSOC Don't know about St Joe and Mansfield, heard lots of different stories. Railrunner130
Thanks. That clears up most of the confusion. I thought I just saw the original 440th tails at Pope last time I was there. Perhaps I didn't pay enough attention.

Railrunner130
Ahh. That explains it. The 86-04XX series was Pittsburg. I thought they were Milwaukee. The 87-928X airplanes were Chicago Reserve turned Milwaukee. Things are making more sense now.

Dave in WV
There were 16 1988 C-130H2's delivered. 8 to Milwaukee, 8 to Charleston,WV. IIRC Milwaukee lost an '88 H model in Honduras.

bobdaley
What RZ meant to say was that the 86-041X aircraft were from the Burgh, and the 88-440X aircraft were from Milwaukee. Interesting about that 440 AW aircraft lost in Iraq, if it is charged to the 440 AW and not active duty, that would give the highest loss rate of all the Guard and Reserve units to them. Over the last almost 40 years the Guard and Reserve have had a great safety record. Including this one there were 11 losses. 440 AW now at Pope A model 1985 Honduras, H model 1997 Honduras, H model 2009 Iraq 118 AW Nashville A model 1980 low level, A model 1986 Ft Campbell KY 302 AW Peterson E model 1995 Idaho 189 AW Little Rock E model 1988 Greenville MS 123 AW Louisville B model 1992 Evansville IN No longer 130 units: 63 AS Selfridge A model 1975 Michigan 706 AS New Orleans B model 1975 304 RQS Portland HC model 1996 off CA 167 AS Martinsburg E model 1992 low level
