HercMX
Any coments as to why an airplane like the F-15 would be brought down by "equiptment malfunction"?? Jack........
Muff Millen
Jack one possible would be loss of power/control/hyd problems with the aft stabilizers. That actuator is a real complicated piece of equipment. Other that that maybe loose equipment in the front ejection seat. Muff
CharlieLifeSupport
Age and stress. Remember the MO ANG F-15 that broke apart in flight over Indiana a few years ago.

AMPTestFE
This was a Strike Eagle, not nearly as old as the MO bird.
Railrunner130
I think the "E" models are unaffected by the structural issues highlighted by the St. Louis loss. They're a bit more beefey.
wysongj
I don't think it's been two, just the one. 91-0304.
larry myers
During Operation Elderado Canyon in 1986 the 48th lost an F-111F to a Libyan ground to air missile while egressing it's target near Tripoli. Both crewmembers were never recovered.
