That is indeed sad.

From what little there is to view in that photo it is hard to make a definitive judgement on why or how it crashed. Just by the look of the vertical stabilizer it looks like it hit at a relatively low speed as if the aircraft was in a stall when it hit the ground or the wingbox failed.

Based on the videos out there it looks like the aircraft impacted wings level and "slid" down the mountian.

Looks like the props (in pics) seem to be in the flight range at or above flight idle.

Maybe off alt/ course for the approach (fog was an issue) as the "mountians" slope off about the same 10K area as the crashsite. It would be interesting to see the path of travel in relation to the airport.

The runway sits inside of a terrian area, put Goulimime Airport in google maps and look at the NE area aprox 10K... Nice range that extends the length and climbs to about 1100m..

No matter the cause lots of heartbreak in Morocco....

I am confused.

There were no 58- A models the last A built was 57-0524

The only one I saw that used 208 in a tail number was 57-0521 Lockheed Number 3208

If you ever get to see the data plate by the FE's panel or some other data plate would you please let us know.

Thanks

Bob
