Kahu
Hi there went to the Yokota Friendship Festival 2011 - was wondering what the devices on both sides on the rear fuselage are.
tinyclark
There are so many models of the C-130J floating around. If you could be a bit more specific, it would help.

I believe YJ refers to the tailflash. He's talking about the H1's that are stationed there.

HeyChief
Those are LAIRCM (Large Aircraft Infra-Red Counter Measure) balls. A type of missile defense system. AFSOC aircraft started out with an early version called DIRCM

Spectre623
Hey Giz and Frank, not a 130 comment but as FE on 141's in the mid 70's we had a bar in each troop door and 2 flare guns mounted on it. One FE and one Load manned them on take off and landing as needed. Must have been very effective as we never lost a 141 to SAM's. Then again I never heard of anyone firing them. Sure miss those high tech days.....Bill:(
Muff Millen
Bill, what was the "bar" stocked with? Most of our Herks in VN had a case of rusty beer stored in the cargo door for the crews enjoyment after ten or twelve hours of crash and dash. (Usually Schlitz of PBRs).
