25% increased thermal capacity with carbon heatstack

Assault Landing Service Cycle

 Service Assault landing (5.9M ft-lb)

 Taxi in, 25 min ground dwell, taxi out

 25 min flight

 Repeat sequence indefinitely

Assault Overload / Quick-turn performance

 17.5M ft-lb Assault O/L landing

 1.15 mile taxi at 25 mph to parked, 5 minute ground dwell

 1.15 mile taxi at 25 mph to stopped

 18.0M ft-lb RTO

 No fire above height of tire allowed

2000 landings per overhaul (8X increase)

You know you have been around a long long time when you witness your acft. going through not one but two MLG brake upgrades.

Recall sometime during 1966/67 when all Es went from single disc brakes to the now obsolete multi disc brakes. Then they represented a huge improvement in stopping power over the single disc brakes. And maintenance was happy as they almost never leaked and service life was much longer.

My guess is these brakes will become a favorite of air and ground crews. Stopping distance should be shorter and they should take much more abuse. Additionally, MTBF should increase and brake maintenance should become a rare occurance.

Maybe a bit of a misnomer...these new wheels are still aluminum (2014-T6 aluminum) and not composite, just a completely different design...boltless. The brakes are carbon disc.

Tires are the same p/n

As far as the shuttle valve and and bleeders, I know it was brought up to the engineers about going back to the legacy setup to save money and do away with the quick disconnects, but they said no. Even though we aren't able to use the Quick Disconnects as they were advertised because they say that let .2CC of air into the system when you connect them and that is what is causing the creep issue, although 3,000 PSI is 3,000 PSI regardless if its hydro, air, or unicorn piss. And there is no real way to do an anti-skid ops check or pressure check with the bleeders that come with the carbon brakes since the 3-4 union doesn't fit the new bleeders, so we have to put the legacy fittings in the new brake just to do an ops check. The brake is good, but it has a few flaws that the engineers don't want to admit.
