Spectre623
Hey Bob the FUT trainer 61-2369 was moved to Pope Field when Dobbins got out of the FTU business a couple of years ago. Bill

bob130ab
Hi Bob, Wish I could join you when you visit 0497. This is the ac that my crew stalled over the Gulf in about 1970. It was configured as a Light ship then and reconfigured to a std TAC ac later. One of two, the other 0493. The published stall speed was incorrect due to the additional drag of the external systems. bobdaley
My first Herk TDY in 1969 was to Shaw. Both of those RC-30S's were parked on the ramp right in front of us.Strange looking aircraft.Bob

hehe
I couldn't figure out the tail number on this one. Appeared to be a B or E model with the nose section plus forward plug added on for C-130J manufacturing mock-up. Anyone know the tail number? Metalbasher
Not likely to see the YMC-130 that was modified for Project Credible Sport...it was moved from the Museum area (open to the public) to the Warrior Air Base/EDMXS Training area (not open to the public) last year. There are also bits and pieces located inside the museum, forward fuselage for demo purposes etc.

hehe
See the last picture. It had forward cargo door but has nose section for c-130j mock-up. Has to be older than 1961 0988 is at moody air park and 0943 is at lockheed with no engines(see third picture)

bobdaley
Lars reported 61-0951 a B model with a forward cargo door was being used as a test fuselage for the J program. I can't tell by looking at the picture.Bob

Spectre623
Nice pics HeHe but the listings you show as Dobbins Air Guard are incorrect. The Dobbins C-130's are H3's. We had 81 and 84 models before they were swapped out for 90's+, H3's a year or two ago. Also Dobbins is a AF Reserve base. Are those tail numbers possibly Savannah Air Guard birds? hehe
You are right. I looked again at my tail numbers above. Corrected it. Thanks

AMPTestFE
Bob, I couldn't see the number on the nose, so I figured you'd know what tail...er, fuselage is sitting at Cheyenne with no wings/tail. I saw 7861 at the front gate....many hours in that one.
bobdaley
I've been asking that question for awhile. I think it is 68-10940 which was at Nashville but have not been able to confirm it. Bob
bobdaley
I was finally thanks to Carl Penaranda confirm that it is 68-10940 on the ramp at Cheyenne. It had been an Aeromed trainer at Nashville and now is an Aeromed trainer at Cheyenne. Bob
