RSA C-130BZ Cargo Floor details

Hello Gents,

My name is Sasha, I'm a Naval Architect, all things considered only density separates us. ;)

I stumbled upon this forum while searching for cargo floor details, particularly any lashing points or mating interfaces with cargo pallets. I need to design a cradle to carry a boat in the C-130BZ. The boat's design was constrained by the cargo bay dimensions resulting in a vessel of LxBxH 12m x 2.6m x 2.5m (2.6m high when placed on the cradle). This 'package' is inserted into the fuselage of the aircraft and here lies my problem. I cannot find any useful info on the BZ's floor layout wrt lashing eyes or standard lock-in points if there are such things. Ideally I would like the cradle to interface with existing hardware. What options do I have to secure this 6500kg load down?

Any information will be greatly appreciated, Looking forward to your thoughts.

Cheers.

I am sure some of our load master friends will poke holes in this idea but assuming that the aircraft is fitted with dual rails and rollers and that there is a k-loader handy:

Why not, connect five pallets, build the cradle on the pallets, roll the whole thing in and lock the pallets into the dual rails?

I have transported the barrel of a 175 ( 30,000 lbs) on three married pallets but the aircraft starts to settle as the load comes off the ramp. Even with the milk stool it squats bit. I could see the chance of 5 pallets binding but it looks like this thing only weighs 16,000 lbs...If you can get 5 connected you don't have much play in the CG...Make sure the boat has the cg marked and the mid point can fall some where in G or H...Get some of the new guys involved ..If it fits through the door it can be hauled...Another thing to consider is proper restraint.. Make sure it can get 4 Gs minimum forward..8 is better..

Thank you for the suggestions so far guys. I'm looking into the standard pallet option now to figure out a way to attach my cradle. Welding is out as the pallet is AL and the cradle is FE, also the cradle goes with the boat for dry-docking. If anyone has the pallet dimension on hand, please share.

463L pallet is 88"X108". The pallet has tie down points all around it but I am still not sure if you can get 5 chained together. Good luck with it. I was flight crew. Some of the Aerial Port Cargo specialist might have better suggestions. 3 together is the most that I have had experience with..
