NATOPS1
The offload valve is designed to prevent fuel from the inflight refueling/ fuel transfer procedures from entering the SPR manifold. Older Aircraft without the offload valve have fuel in the SPR lines any time the dump pump/ transfer pumps are used to transfer fuel to the IFR pods of into the fuse tank. The offload valve is closed any time the refuel/ ground transfer switch is in off position.
munirabbasi
NATOP1 agree but how it can smooth cut off the fuel during defueling operation. instead of butterfly it canbe designed shutter valve. munir abbasi
Abode SH
Off-load valve is reducing fuels pressure coming out from the fuel truck, the fuel truck pumping 200 psi into the aircraft and that's will affect the fuel system lines inside the aircraft that's why the off-load valve takes a place to reduce the pressure. Spectre623
Abode SH, the off load valve is only to keep the SPR manifold dry like NATOPS 1 said. It does NOT reduce refueling truck pressure. If you are pumping at 200 PSI look for big trouble. Pump at 60 PSI max at 600GPM. Bill
hlg6016
Our "R" models (equivalent to an H with the A/C pacs) had an SPR surge suppressor located behind the SPR panel. had to open the air deflector to get at it.
Abode SH
there is is a reducer installed just before the butter fly valve in center drybay ? i think there i reason for that reducer.
Abode SH
1-The 3-inch, motor-operated valve provides a smooth cutoff of fuel to the single point panel during rapid off loading of fuel. 2-If the surge suppressor fail to operates the off load valve will prevent damage to system components from surges in the refuel manifold. 3- when placing master switch to drain position this will energized contacts of the off load valve relay.and fuel is pumped from the refueling and SPR manifolds into the No. 3 main fuel tank.
