The contract was awarded on 10 January, according to the US Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) website, and is worth $727 277. IHS Jane’s Defence Weekly notes that the Egyptian Air Force has 22 C-130H and three C-130H-30 Hercules in its fleet, which could be upgraded with an ELINT capability. The publication pointed out that in July 2003 the US Defense Security Co-operation Agency (DSCA) notified Congress of a possible Foreign Military Sale of two Egyptian Air Force C-130Hs with roll on/roll off ELINT systems. That proposed deal was to be implemented by Lockheed Martin, the Mission Research Corporation, and Plano Microwave (which became part of Sierra Nevada Corporation) but it is not clear if the sale was ever implemented.
