  1. I was in the 21st and they loaded 9 big ones on 56 543 , took them up to Korea, we were not back 2 weeks when I got paper work for the Korean Medal and it is on my DD214
  2. Wow, interesting that you should mention that MC-1 switchblade knife, I just found mine last week and gave it to my Grandson along with the fixed blade knife I carried on missions in Nam and your right that switchblade was not much of a knife

  5. I keep hearing that Crew Chiefs did not fly , but 90% of the time that was the first thing the Engineer would ask "YOU FLYING WITH US TODAY CHIEF" I know for myself, I flew every mission I had a chance to go on.
  6. I would find it very hard to believe that any one that was at Naha ,did not make it into Naminoue, Oh and the 21ST was the best!!!!!!

  10. OK, I need my memory refreshed, I ran engines when I was in the Phase docks and than when I was out on the flight line, and I don't remember any chains, July 67 to Jan 69 21st TAS Oh, I agree the was rack was not a fun place , washed 56 0543 there to many times
  11. Ken, Are you talking about the big hanger on the other side of the fighters plains, if so, they did an upgrade on the landing gear, I know they did it on 56 0543 in I think early 68 when I was the ACC. It was in there for about 3 or 4 days. Cliff

  15. What kind of info are you looking for, was not in the Blind Bat group, but was a Crew Chief on an A model at Naha 56 543
  16. Good luck with that, when I left Naha I was told that I had the requirements for an Air Medal.and was given an Air medal by the awards officer. Well after I was discharged I sent a letter asking about the paper work and was told they had no information So here I set with an Air Medal and no paper work. Really made me mad as hell!!!   18. What great memorys. Hard to belive they happen so long ago. I got to Naha late 67 and was assigned to the Phase docks , than in 68 when out to the flight line on 56 543 till she went back to the states in early 69 when I headed home too. I remember just about everything you have been talking about. Good times!!!!! Cliff Ward

    Sonny I would think so too., I got to Naha July 67 and went to work in the Phase docks . I was on the 2nd shift and then came out of the docks and was the Assistant on 56 543 under Rick Wockles, When he left I took over as Crew Chief. till the bird went back to the states in Feb of 69 Oh and yes that was a 2ist bird.     I was a Crew Chief on an A model and I can't imagine jumping out that crew door with the Eng still running Cliff 56 543 Naha 67,68
