I spent 3 Years at RAF Mildenhall on MC-130H Talon 2s and MC-130P combat shadows, I then spent 3 years at Dyess AFB. I am now in the Coast Guard on C-130Js at Elizabeth City CGAS.

    I was DCC on.

  1. Do the wings have to be no-loaded before the nuts are changed if they are being done one by one? We found a bad one on a J-Model
  2. The aircraft in the pictures is a Coast Guard aircraft in Kodiak Alaska, we got word here in Elizabeth City about it and ALC was investingating the cause, As far as I know they still dont have any idea what caused it, my theory is some one reached up and pulled the jettison handle......I know I have done it on the ground before (my bad) If I get anymore info I'll post.
  3. Almost too crazy to be true...did you change the dome assy?? Sounds a little like pilot error, im not accusing anyone but I have had a pilot blame the aircraft to CYA before...just a thought
  4. Another good one is manually starting the APU, the Mech usually has to be pretty green but it has worked a couple of times for me. Keep the flap manual ext handle in and tell the young crew chief that he or she must crank the speed handle as quick as possible to crank the APU, Then as they get speed have another Crew Chief in the flight deck start the APU and kill it as it gains speed. Now tell the young Mech to spin it faster as it was not fast enough the first time. You can do this as many times as you want...just remeber the duty cycle on the starter.
