  1. We have used them here at Mildenhall. We you can't get an IFR at the last minute, they sure come in handy. Eric
  2. That funny... almost as good as my TSP statement!
  3. Hello, I'm getting ready to retire after 20 years of service... Any advice? Suggestions on what pitfalls I can avoid? With everything being on virtal MPF, it's a pain. How does the VA come in to play? Do I get my medical exam while my on active duty with the VA? I'll be leaving Moldy Hole in Jul with a retirement date of 01 Nov 09. Retiring overseas is a pain, I'm going to be at Little Rock. A new process to streamline the retirement process won't let me final out at Little Rock AFB, I've got to do every thing at Mildenhall. Thanks for all the advice, Eric
  4. A couple quick questions? 1st- After the hydraulic system sits for a day, where is the reservior sitting at? 2nd- What happen\'s to the reservior fluid level when you turn on the suction boost pump after the system sat for a while? If your reservior is overserviced after the aircraft sat for a while and when you turn your suction boost pump on, and the fluid level drops your suction check valve in the wing is bad. Is there anything else going on with the hydraulic system... i.e. having to keep servicing any accumulators? Air in the system can play H*ll on a hydraulic system. I don\'t mean this to be silly, but have you checked the vent filter for contamination? A clogged filter can cause the reservior to pressurize and talk about the mess in the cargo compartment. Eric
  5. First... Just put in for orders to Mildenhall or Kadena and hope you get the C-130 side (AFSOC). Then once you get the orders and you spend 2 years in AFSOC, you can truely see how the grass is greener on the AMC side of the fence. I wanted to go past 20+ years, but AFSOC showed me the light to retire at 20 years. But the answer to your question... just put in orders for a AFSOC base. If you do get orders to Mildenhall and you end up on the KC-135, before you get here try working a swap. It is alot easiser to swap prior to getting here then once you sign in. Eric
