  1. I might have the date in my notes somewhere, but there was a similar incident in '91 or '92 involving a Little Rock bird. As I recall, it was involved in a hard landing at the All-American Drop zone (Camp Robinson?). As the airplane rotated off, the right aft strut came apart. The airplane landed back at LR, and the wheel folded under the fuselage. You could stand in the cargo compartment and see the ground thru the hole it created.
  2. Hello MSPFE, I've been emailing back and forth over the last week with Randy Kenowski, who crewed Tractor with Bruce Moins. I understand Moins retired a few years ago. I learned about the name when I came across an issue of the Viking Flyer online, with the two page article chronicling 1834s exploits. She needs a bath, but doesn't look too worn now. It's been fun researching her history.
  3. We may have lost our C-130s (to the Reserves at Pittsburgh), but the Wing is still alive and well. We now operate KC-135s as an ARC-Associate unit.
  4. The Guard unit in Oklahoma City (137th ARW) is at the Will Rogers World Airport. That's where 1834 is now located. The bird will be used primarily for our aeromeds to train, but can also be used by several other groups on base. We were a victim of BRAC, but the base and most of the support functions are still at Will Rogers ANGB. The maintenance group and most of the ops group moved to Tinker to be associated with the 507th ARW (AFRC). We are one of only two ARC associates in the AF. (Niagara Falls being the other)
  5. Hello Bob, If your numbers for Little Rock include 62-1834, she's been moved to the ANG at Oklahoma City for use as a ground trainer.
  6. A few years ago, I was discussing the Iranian "Night Harvest" F-4 Phantoms with author Tom Cooper, when he mentioned that around 1976 the Iranians re-serialled their F-4s. The confusing aspect of this was that the serials did not seem to have been applied according to any sequence that matched the original numbers. Any aircraft that remained were renumbered without regard to those who had been victims of attrition. The C-130s may have been re-serialled in this fashion as well.
  7. Hello Bob, I and a few others from my maintenance group just visited Sheppard a couple of days ago. The three birds over by the 80th FTW area now are 63-7768, 63-7813, and 63-7849. All three aircraft are slated to be scrapped in the coming months. We were inspecting 7849 to see if we wanted it to convert as an aeromed trainer. She is in great shape, obviously well taken care of.
