I worked in the depot at Warner Robins for many years in various aspects of the 54H60 overhaul line. Now I am the primary Equipment Specialist for the prop, APU/GTC, and fire detection/protection systems at Robins. I am also secondary on the engine. I also have the same responsibilities for the J Model systems. Dowty R391, RR AE2100D3 etc. I have a lot of respect for the Herks!

  1. I rode in the Cheyene bird with NP2000 last year. It was very similar to a C-130J model takeoff. It seemed much smoother and quieter than the 54H60 equipped models. It was kind of like riding in a small C-17. It did not have that buzzy vibration the J models have either. It was a short ride, but it made a believer out of me!
  2. I am saddened to announce the passing of Jesse Garza. Many propulsion maintainers will remember Jesse from the Prop Control overhaul Shop at Robins AFB. He had over thirty years of overhauling legacy C-130 props and controls. Nobody was better at operating and troubleshooting Valve and Pump Housings and test machines. He taught me to run the valve housing test machine years ago. He was always eager to help anyone that asked. He unselfishly helped many around the world for years. He was fun to hanout with also. Please pray for all that are grieving the loss. The old timer prop guys are getting rarer all the time. The funeral is today in Perry, GA. JJ
