My unit had a plane go through a flock of birds after a max effort T/O from a short LZ. About 50 feet, and #2 flamed out, and #1 rolled back. The crew did a phenomenal job keeping the plane flying and were able to get the plane on the ground safely. My best was doing a stop and go, just prior to the go call we heard a bang, saw a flash, and #3 started rolling back. We rejected, and as we completed the reject #3 came back up on speed. We taxied clear to check out the engine and had base ops check out the runway for any FOD. All they found was a fish. They asked us if we wanted to record a fish strike. After shut down and the mx inspection, they found a sea bird that had a fish in its grip when it hit us.

So does that 222 include the AFSOC birds? According to the latest Air Force Times (Air Force Whine dated 28 Jan 08), AFSOC has pulled completely out of getting any of its birds AMP\'ed. I don\'t know how old that info in the story really is. Seems like AFSOC is going to be depending completely on the J model to replace the MC fleet.

I\'m hoping someone here might have an answer to a VA question. My brother got discharged from the AF 2 years ago. His DD214 says that because the AF did not take care of his wisdom teeth while he was in that the VA will cover his teeth. So he called the VA and they told him that he should have applied within 90 days of separating. This was not something he was in all his transition briefings so he\'s trying to find out if the VA is full of crap (in this instance at least). I\'m hoping somebody might have had some experience with them with something similar. Thanks for the help. quietus
