Yes, it was 0564 - on both counts; first with UARRSI & lost @ Subic Bay - Feb \'81.

Always thought the FE -1 preflt was to ensure the acft was capable & configged to do the mission - after the mx guys made sure the acft was safe to fly, had it prepped & all was in order. Sometimes we had (found) issues, but by & large, we got a very good product from mx. In 20 years on the acft, can only recall just a very few instances when mx gave us a plane they knew shouldn\'t fly - & then only under lots of pressure by higher-ups to make release time.

Huh?? HC-130H(H)-xxx. Thought the H in HC-130 was the rescue designation & the question at hand is what is the (H) in HC-130(H) for. Yes, no? Back in my corner squawking \"STDBY\".

Early 80s? I was a Herk FE in the 33ARRS @ Kadena 80-82. We had 5 Herks; 2 Ps, 2 Ns & 1 H (w/helo AR). Could this mission have taken place in the early 70s perhaps? Or am I having a senior moment?

But lots of fun & relatively safe when done by someone with good hands & a feel for the acft. Will tell the tale now that he\'s no longer with us. Can remember calling out 10\' AGL off the radalt as we did a hispd pass down the rwy @ RAF Sculthorpe - with twr aprvl, of course. Their only req, \"Pls stay clr of the housing area & pull up sharply @ end of the fld.\" Can do easy. Wouldn\'t have felt comfortable with just anybody in that situation, but Doc Murdock had a great set of hands.
