  1. Muff, Like he said, the C-130 plays a part. I am guessing it is not the focus of the story but rather the setting. Good for him for doing his research and going for his dream. Too many people just settle for mediocrity. P.S. Half the books on the bestseller list are crap anyway.

Maybe we should add a Museum tab to AllHerks16? A lot of the new Canadian J-models are going back for modifications, I am hearing it could be after 609 comes in that they start retiring more of the older E-models. Officially, at least, as I am hearing there are quite a few that are close to the 50k mark that are being held only in reserve.

LOL, guess I asked for it. I have added it to a ZIP archive so everyone can view it. Guess we aren't counting 130313 until it officially gets transferred to the Greenwood Military Aviation Museum? Museums.zip

Bob, Select, then copy (CTRL-C) and paste works fairly well. If there is formatting using Notepad first works. It is long list but seems postable.
  5. Some more details: Thursday, October 21, 2010 7:30 a.m. The tour includes visits to the flight line, the F-22 Raptor/C-130J production area, the Lockheed Martin gift shop, the low speed wind tunnel, and a C-130J static display. Due to limited space, seats are limited to the first 100 people who sign up. Please sign up early as only two buses will be available (100 total seats) The tour involves a lot of walking, so please do not wear high heeled or open toe shoes. This last part is unfortunate, but you'll probably still be able to make a few notes and write down the registration and serial numbers of all the new planes.
  6. I know a lot of you guys read Lockheed Martin's Service News magazine, which dates all the way back to 1974. The company stopped publishing new volumes in 2005, despite several attempts to restart it. Meanwhile, I've found the entire archive which dates back to the start. There's a lot of good stuff in there, and some of the last articles on Center Wing and Outer Wing history and replacement were pretty good. http://www.lockheedmartin.com/ams/ServiceNewsMagazine.html There's also an Index in Excel format: http://www.lockheedmartin.com/data/assets/service_news_magazines/Service_News_Subject_Index.xls
  7. From the information I've seen, all of the 19 E models will be replaced by the 17 J models by 01 APR 2012. All of the SAR taskings will be given to the 13 H models, which are supposed to last until 2017. What I know of the H fleet: 2x H73 40k EBH, requires Center Wing Replacement 2x H73 30k EBH, requires Center Wing Replacement 2x H84 30k EBH 5x H90(T) 20k EBH 2X H-30 10k EBH EBH=Equivalent Baseline Hours SAR taskings apparently have a severity rating of 3. This is the H fleet: 130332 1975 H73 130333 1975 H73 130334 1985 H84 130335 1985 H84 130336 1975 H73 130337 1975 H73 130338 1991 Tanker 130339 1991 Tanker 130340 1991 Tanker 130341 1991 Tanker 130342 1991 Tanker 130343 1997 Stretch 130344 1997 Stretch
  8. You're welcome! They don't have the agenda for this year yet, but I would think that Mr. Ross Reynolds will give another C-130 program update. I posted some info I dug up on the increase in build rate in the "Manufacturing at Marietta" thread. Did I mention that there's a Marietta Plant Tour?
  9. I was going through documents from the 2009 Hercules Operators Conference, and found some good info on the increase in the build rate from Ross Reynolds' C130 Program Update. This is the picture from 2009: Current Aircraft Production Line: Toolset / Facilities Designed to Produce 36 Aircraft per Year Current Production Rate: 24 aircraft per year 10 Day Move Rate Line Loaded Moderate 1st Shift / Light 2nd Shift Ramp Up Plan: Supports 16 in ‘09, 27 in ‘10, and 35 in ‘11 Fully Loaded Line 7 Day Move Rate Heavy 1st Shift / Moderate 2nd Shift

  11. Just got word that Canada's latest Super Hercules, CC-130J 130605 will be delivered on 23 Sep 10 (next Thursday). Hopefully we'll get some pics!
  12. From CodeOne: http://www.codeonemagazine.org/article.html?item_id=48 So any thoughts on which one is next? Anyone know which are really close to the 50k mark? My last sighting of 130323 was in July of 2009, while my information on 130319 and 130320 trails off after April and May. I'm also wondering which E-model Mackey rode on...
  13. That's faster than I thought! At three a month I can see the next batch of Canadian aircraft delivered by the end of January, if the flight test backlog clears up.
  14. While researching LM's manufacturing, I stumbled across "A Model Airplane" in Capacity Magazine published in Fall of 2008. It's a little old, but gives quite a history about the plant in Marietta where the Hercules is produced. Still quite relevant as LM is increasing the build rate to 36 aircraft per year. http://www.capacity-magazine.com/wmspage.cfm?parm1=358
  15. Thanks, didn't think I would see the Qatar birds until February. It's a good thing there're lots of numbers left as we'll have Kuwait, ROK, UAE, Iraq, and Oman coming up.

  17. Assembly Thanks! Was wondering if I'd ever solve that mystery. Bob and I were discussing the Indian aircraft, as we have both seen different pictures naming them as KC-38xx and K-38xx.
  18. Is that for the C.4 or C.5 Herks?
  19. 44J = USAF C-130J-30 47J = Canada CC-130J 50J = India 72J = USMC KC-130J 73J = USAF HC/MC-130J If anyone has the numbers for RAF, AMI, RDAF, RNoAF, or RAAF please add.

  21. Time to revive this thread! Anybody in Marietta willing to post some info? I figure the next ones to come out of the shop are the KC-130J's (probably for VMGR-152) followed by some more Canadian CC-130J's. I think there might be a bit of a backlog in flight testing as there were a lot of the planes sitting by the flight test hanger for a long while, like 06-3171 (almost a month before first flight). Looking for delivery confirmation on: 5631 168074 VMGR-152? 5632 168075 VMGR-152? I'm tracking Canadian CC-130J deliveries on this Flickr page here, but this is the updated info I have: 5635 130603 Delayed to Sept 5636 130604 Delivered Aug 27 5637 130605 Sept The first USAF HC-130J's are supposed to be delivered in September 5633 09-0108 5634 09-0109 My thread on the two new birds going to Dyess in October. And yes, I've sent all I have to Bob Daley.
