2. I heard the cowboy was from Montana!!!
3. I too am proud and prouder now that I'm retired, even though we currently have a lot of problems in our beloved country. The problem here is old age, I misread the headng and thought it said: "What is a vegetarian" which I believe is a liberal scum that can't hunt.
4. I was at Ramstien for three years in the mid 70's only I was on T-39s. It was about best assignment I've had. The travel, food, and beer is great and you should get some good TDYs also.
5. This is a military date I commemorate annually.............. 71 years ago today on this date (18 April 1942) 16 B-25's took off from the deck of the USS Hornet led by Lt. Col Jimmy Doolittle to bomb targets in Japan. The raid shook the confidence of the Japanese leaders and lifted up the spirits of the American people at a time when things looked bleak. The subsequent victory at the Battle of Midway was in part due to the effects of the Doolittle Raid. There are only 3 surviving aircrew members of the raid and they will be meeting today in Florida for their final reunion. Let us never forget the bravery of the airmen who volunteered for the raid and the sailors of the task force that made the take-off from the Hornet possible. It is sad the three left have voted this will be the last reunion but I understand.
6. I guess the next thing the drone operators will apply for is VA benifits and disability for carpel tunnel on their joystick hand. As a crew chief, we flew many of the missions in SW and Central Asia until about 2004. After that, unless the plane was gone several days we did not go with it much.
7. That is a good price SEFEGeorge. I bought mine at Medals of America and they are $6.95. http://www.medalsofamerica.com/Item--i-J500
8. Air Show is Canceled For Immediate Release Seymour Johnson Cancels Air Show - Congressional Uncertainty SEYMOUR JOHNSON AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. - The 2013 Wings Over Wayne Open House and Air Show, scheduled for May 18-19, has been cancelled. Driven by the dual threat of operating under a continuing resolution and potential sequestration, U.S. Air Force leadership at all levels are proactively implementing near-term actions to minimize impacts to Air Force personnel while protecting operational readiness. "Our decision to cease planning for the 2013 air show comes after careful review and consideration of the fiscal challenges the Air Force, the Department of Defense and our nation face," said Col. Jeannie Leavitt, 4th Fighter Wing commander. "We're taking prudent measures and doing our best to mitigate our budget risks and align available resources with current and emerging operational requirements. Remaining as mission-ready as possible and preserving our combat capability is our imperative and we're prioritizing spending to ensure this priority is met." For more than 55 years, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base has enjoyed unparalleled community support from Wayne County, Goldsboro and the surrounding communities, which made this decision difficult. For more information, call the 4th FW Public Affairs office at (919) 722-0027.
9. We always "T"ed the props with the #3 blade down. There is a weep hole there that can drain in that position. When we did the preflight to get it ready to fly we "X"ed the prop when we took out the plugs.

11. Thanks Gary, and I totally agree. I did just read that: "Retired and surviving beneficiaries using Medicare and TRICARE For Life won't be affected by the change."
12. GaryRobinson, you are correct that the current TRICARE system drafts were initiated under the Bush administration. However that was in 2007 when Bush was a lame duck president and the country was led by a democratic controlled house and senate. Budgets are presented for legislation from all agencies with congress putting together the final budget which is presented to the Resident for signing or not. So yes it is a political process.
13. You get what you vote for!!! The military's managed-care option -- TRICARE Prime -- will be ended Oct. 1 for retirees, their family members and for military survivors who reside more than 40 miles from a military treatment facility or from a base closure site, TRICARE Management Activity announced Wednesday. Most of these 171,400 beneficiaries will need to shift health coverage from Prime to TRICARE Standard, the military's fee-for-service health insurance option. For beneficiaries who use more than preventive health care during the year, the shift will mean higher out-of-pocket costs. 15. Good luck Gizz, When I retired I sent documentation to the VA to start my process including current DD Form214s. I have a civilian job and they told me that I make to much money and placed me in catagory 8 (basically no benefits). After being out 3 years, a VA advocate told me that I should have been put in a lower catagory because I had been in several combat zones. I was supposed to be automatically placed in the lower catagory for at least 4 years. He helped me reapply and the local VA clinic scheduled a physical, eye test and hearing test. Before the hearing test I received notification my 4 years of eligibility was up and I was back in catagory 8. I went to my hearing test in late Nov and on 10 Dec I recieved a bill for $50. On the 11th I recieved an"nasty gram" stating if they did not recieve $50 by 31 Dec they would garnish my retirement pay. How's that for love?
16. SALT LAKE CITY -- Once a Cold War-era submarine attack plane, the Lockheed P2V has for years been both a mainstay of the nation's aerial firefighting arsenal and a cause for concern.Flying in the turbulent, unforgiving skies above raging wildfires, the planes have crashed at least seven times from either mechanical problems or pilot error, causing 16 deaths, dating back to 1990 when they were slowly added to the nation's firefighting fleet. http://www.kansascity.com/2012/06/03/3640346/air-tanker-crash-kills-2-at-utah.html http://www.firehouse.com/news/10726438/ntsb-firefighting-plane-heavily-fragmented-in-crash Read more here: http://www.kansascity.com/2012/06/03/3640346/air-tanker-crash-kills-2-at-utah.html#storylink=cpy
17. On H3's we would safety wire the urinals closed at 245, but when we carried troops, some jarhead would cut the wire an use it anyway.
18. Rescuers say they have discovered bodies near the wreckage of a Russian-made passenger plane that smashed into a steep Indonesian volcano with 45 people on board. Search and rescue spokesman Gagah Prakoso said his teams reached the remote, rugged site near the crater on Thursday afternoon. Just like a woman, she's probably yelling at him right now for not listening to her.
21. I had the site bookmarked at one time, but went back to it 6 months or so ago and it wasn't there. Sorry I don't know what happened to it.
22. Back in 1974, I had orders for Pease on F-4s, the Test Wing at Wright Patterson, and T-39s at Ramstein which all arrived withn 3 days of each other. The orders for Ramstein were issued first, so I went there for 3 years. I would have like to have gone to Wright Pat also, but I'm sure glad the ones for Pease were canceled.
23. The daredevil pilot of this Hercules aircraft risked life and limb - and the heads of terrified onlookers - when he skimmed the plane just five metres above the ground. Cruising at 220mph, the Swedish Air Force's C-130 is seen dipping over trees to dangerously sweep across a field. 24. The aircraft was on its way from Evenes in northern Norway to Kiruna in the far north of Sweden when it went missing around 3pm, according to local media reports. "We don't know what happened. It's gone," an operator at Swedish emergency service SOS Alarm told the local Norrländska Socialdemokraten newspaper. The plane was participating in a Cold Response military training exercise, the Norwegian Armed Forces said. Visit The Local to read the full story.
25. Charlotte already lost two H3s to other guard units a few years ago. As Bob said, they are also slated to lose two more in 2017. If there are any decent people left in state government they need to be contacted, also your federal congress critters.
