  5. Jensen, sorry but I think it is a big deal. The Tata group is made up of 114 companies in 80 countries which include cars, trucks, steel, chemicals, information technology, fiber optic cabling, power networks, beverages, and hospitality. I am now in fiber optics after retirement and they have been on our radar (competition) for a couple of years along with several other Indian companies. They just need to get their foot in the door. We will see.

  7. CLEARWATER, Fla. – A day before his final mission aboard a B-17 bomber in World War II, Norbert Swierz sat down on his bunk and jotted down a poem for his mother back in Michigan. "I go so gladly to my fate, whatever it may be. That I would have you shed no tears for me," wrote the 23-year-old gunner, who had already survived the ditching of his first B-17 in the North Sea that summer of 1943. "Some men must die, that others must be free. And only God can say whom these shall be." 8. I expedited over several rotations in SW and Central Asia up until mid 2007 and we were still using the boards. It was a quick way to check the status on the planes. The trucks were a good place for everyone to get warm during winters in Germany or out of the heat in the desert and of course hide when QA was around. - Larry
  9. Just cleaned up the attic last summer and got rid of several flokati rugs that had been up there for years. I still have a four master wooden sailing ship in my "man cave". I also have a collection of shot glasses and some alibaster figurines from all over Europe. Of course the wife brought back several Hummels.
  10. I was with Plaprad in '02 out of Kuwait, same thing with me and the M9s. When we went to K2 in '04 we had M16's if we went to work on a plane at a remote base. Had to carry an M16 on base at Bagram in '07 everywhere we went.
  11. Hydraulic reservoir door was left open and went face first into it. It about broke my glasses.
  12. Bob is right, the original was written by Mary Frye in 1932 but has been changed and re-written at least five times and has also been written as a song. More info can be found: http://www.businessballs.com/donotstandatmygraveandweep.htm

  15. Sorry Jansen, I knew that as soon as I hit submit. This is the first time I've posted a whole article, I normally just put in a link with the title. But then again it's okay for Julian Assange to steal government secrets and post it all over the internet.

  17. We always used 28k ramp load but as always 20 minutes after it was fueled, they would want to go to 34k or some other load. I can't remember any time limit on a max load either.
  18. Dan I'll send you the two pennys and if the other 3500 members would do the same you'd have $70 to put toward the new furnace. I grew up in SW NY and know about the lake effect, (a great year so far for all this global warming) good luck.
  19. SAN DIEGO, Dec. 7 (UPI) -- U.S. Air National Guard C-130H crews are being given increased situational awareness during airlift, airdrop and other operations by Northrop Grumman. The company said it had been given a $12.7 million cost-plus fixed-fee contract from the Defense Micro-Electronics Activity to integrate software and hardware that will enable real-time tactical information to be displayed in the C-130H cockpit and navigator station. The displays will provide information obtained from Joint Range Extension Applications Protocol and Situational Awareness Data Link communications, allowing the C-130 crew to not only see the theater tactical picture but also electronically identify its position to others within the theater of operation. Northrop Grumman is also installing the ARC-210 airborne military radio, which provides two-way voice and data communications and is software-operated as part of the Real Time Information in the Cockpit program. The company said 32 ANG C-130Hs will have the Real Time Information in the Cockpit installed in Utah following a 12-month integration phase.
  20. Amen J.P I wrote a letter to the editor a year ago which was posted in newsprint and the on-line version. The on-line version allowed comments. They were some of the most vile responses calling me all kinds of names. Here is the editorial... This is in reference to Lee Barnes “Get rid of ‘Don’t ask, don’t tell” on 7 February. Why is it that individuals with “no dog in the fight” are pushing their unpopular agendas on a military that does not want it? Mr. Barnes maybe you don’t feel this is wrong, but others do. Try spending 18 months in the desert living with eleven others in a tent and showering in a twenty man open bay shower. I’m sorry Mr. Barnes, but if anyone under me showed up to work wearing eyeliner, a violation of the uniform code of military justice, he would be reprimanded severely. As for your comment “I have never heard of a gay man making a pass at a straight man in the shower” just last week it was announced Eric Messa (D-NY) is resigning due to sexual misconduct with a male staff member. Comments from Messa’s own shipmates during his time in the Navy include: “Junior officers were troubled by the fact that Massa used their shower – even though it was four decks below his stateroom where he had showering facilities with the other senior officers” and during his Navy career, officials state “Eric Massa allegedly touched at least two men inappropriately and exhibited a pattern of putting himself in situations where he could see men naked – particularly younger and lower-ranking men”. Also, a (straight) lieutenant under Messa’s command told officers on the ship “that while assigned to the same room, Massa came up behind me and started massaging my neck and shoulders and later, while I was in bed, I was awakened by Massa’s hands in his shorts”. So tell me again that gays don’t try to pick up straight men or enjoy the showers. The most recent poll of military personnel of all ranks and branches was released last week. The data showed that within all of the military 56% strongly disapproved of gays in the military, with another 19% disapproving. Within the Marine Corps, a full 64% strongly disapproved. It costs the government a minimum of $150,000 to train an individual in their assigned career field. It could also take up to twelve years to become fully qualified within that field. The survey also indicated up to 22% of the military would leave the service after their current enlistment, if this was passed. The highest number of those surveyed willing to leave, had between ten and fourteen years of service. Is it right for a minority of civilians to decimate the best military in the world to push for their own selfish agendas?

  23. Age VS Youth F16 vs C-130 A C-130 was lumbering along when a cocky F-16 flashed by. The jet jockey decided to show off. The fighter jock told the C-130 pilot, 'watch this!' and promptly Went into a barrel roll followed by a steep climb. He then finished With a sonic boom as he broke the sound barrier. The F-16 pilot Asked the C-130 pilot what he thought of that? The C-130 pilot said, 'That was impressive, but watch this!' The C-130 droned along for about 5 minutes and then the C-130 Pilot came back on and said: 'What did you think of that?' Puzzled, the F-16 pilot asked, 'What the heck did you do?' The C-130 pilot chuckled. 'I stood up, stretched my legs, walked To the back, took a leak, then got a cup of coffee and a Cinnamon roll.' The moral of the story is.... When you are young and foolish - Speed and flash may seem a good thing ! When you get older and smarter - Comfort and dull is not such a bad thing! Us older folks understand this one.
