Flying with oxygen shouldn't be a problem as aircraft are pressurized and permit normal breathing and oxygen saturation. Best wishes for a quick recovery after your surgery. (ps. I worked at Elmendorf Hospital 1983-1987. Do they still light the star on top at Christmas?)

I would sure rather she be placed in my back yard. I would treat her well. Having said that, I trained at Camp Bullis back in the early 80's ; attended C4 (Combat Casualty Care Course) and I would rather have medical folks using her for training than being sent to the boneyard. Starting to feel old.......

Giz..I think you are right. They are trying to outlast us. The request becomes moot if your dead. I'm now into the 4th month of what I was told would take "up to 3 months". Keep grinding on. Don't let 'em win. Right is Right. You did the time now IT'S ABOUT TIME !!!

Thank you all. We are still in the hospital with more testing on Monday. Getting prepped for vascular surgery in attempt to avoid Liver transplant. Again, my wife and I can't thank you all enough for your kindness. Keith

so....maintenance guys are being supplied with a "tool handling monkey"? Is there a tech school for that? Maybe prop safety issues could be best dealt with by removing the props every time the aircraft is parked. Can the head shed come up with any more ridiculous "safety" rules? I'm sorry someone got a bump on the head,,,,But.. PULEEEEZE!

As I read this thread, I've got tears in my eyes. You guys are like family and Debbie and I very much appreciate your support. I am writing from my 13 year old son's bedside at Shands Childrens hospital in Gainesville Florida. Our son is seriously ill and will most likely need a liver transplant. Debbie and I are waiting to speak with the Transplant Team today. Thank you all so much for keeping us in your thoughts.....................Keith

Colonel George "Bud" Day passed away at his home in Shalimar Florida today. He was 88. Born in 1925, Bud served in the Air Force with distinction. After having been shot down over North Viet Nam, he survived 5 1/2 years as a POW. He attempted at least one escape from confinement. During captivity, Col. Day spent a short time sharing a cell with John McCain. Today Senator McCain said "Bud was one of the most courageous men I have ever known". McCain, went on to extend praise for Col Day's encouragement and support to those POW's he was imprisoned with. Among his many accolades, he is also the recipient of the Medal of Honor. A service will be held on Thursday Aug 1st at the Emerald Coast Conference Center. He will be buried with full Military Honors at Barrancas National Cemetery on Saturday.

Giz, we all filed travel vouchers. I never kept copies... my dumb. I've tried several sf180 requests for vouchers and consistently told "we don't keep those records". Even quered the finance section at Randolph. Same story.Different people....different results. Oh well...

Chris, the scenario you describe is exactly what happened to me. On that mission from Langley ferrying 6 aircraft to SEA in April/May timeframe 1972 (Giz, I believe you were also on this mission) my blanket orders listed no destination and, during the entire time I was at Tan Son Nhut, Langley didn't have a clue as to where I was. For the 42 days I was at TSN, I was never paid. In fact, I hadn't been paid at all from the time I left Langley until I processed out of TSN and got my Hazard Duty Pay. During the last 8 days at TSN I lived on my last $2.00 by spending .25 cents on midnight chow once every 24 hours. In fact, when I finally left TSN it was because Langley sent a Twix demanding to have me return immediately and that they had assumed I was AWOL !. So after all these years, I'm having a hell of a time proving boots on the ground. I know there are wanta be's out there and I also know anything I say to the Government is probably looked at with skepticism. But damn it. I never shirked my duty. I was there. I'm mad as hell

I had a great time at the reunion. I walked in not knowing anyone except for this forum but walked out with a lot of old friends. I would recommend that the folks who were not able to make this reunion to make plans for next year at Pigeon Forge, Tennessee September 2014. Details will follow. Would sure look forward to seeing as many as possible.

I replace mine about two to three times per year. The only time they come down is during a hurricane. Hey Chris...Been trying to get in touch by email.....having some technical difficulty.

I had been in, under, around and through a bunch of 130's but never ran across any critters.....

My flag and POW/MIA flag fly 24/7 and lighted at night. No one around here has any doubt about where I stand
