    I was a pilot in that unit and remember that night very well. Lots of friends didn't come back from that mission.

    I was assigned to that unit at Pope when the crash occurred. It was the 318th Special Operations Squadron and the aircraft was an MC-130E, which is a variant of the basic C-130. I remember that night very well and think often about the incident and the friends we all lost. I don't think any of us were the same thereafter.
