  1. As a question that was brought up about 62-1855 being a E-Flt Grey Bird. 62-1855 was not an E-Flt Aircraft in the early and mid- seventies at CCK or Clark. Our tails were 62-1859,63-7868,63-7879,64-0497,and 64-0515. Aircraft 63-7770 was used for a short time by E-FLT while one our our aircraft had a major repair accomplished.

  2. Bob,

They were replaced by C-130H\'s of the 440Air Wing originally from Billy Mitchell Field at Milwalke Wis of the Air Force Reserve. My old unit the 913th Air Wing at Willow Grove had E models that POPE,DYESS,and Little Rock got from us because of wing cracks\"ALL THIRTEEN\"of the E-models and 63-7823 was one of them that POPE got from Willow Grove.

The New 440th Wing at POPE has a composite of people from the Wis 440th and the 913th from Willow Grove,PA. I am glad that some of the 62 Models are still flying from when I Crew\'ed some of them in South and East Asia about almost 40 years ago.

    Thanks

  3. 63-7777 or \"Bunch of Sevens\" was at CCK AB Taiwan for the 314TAW and after 374 TAW while I was there 1971 to 1974.It probably stayed at CCK till we moved to Clark. I think it went to Kadena with the 345th when the 374th went to Clark.

  4. I remember the guys that were with E-Flt at Naha when they came to CCK and then we started to have the HABU or Cobra patch. Both patches of the COBRA were used at CCK.

Ralph,Thanks for the picture of all three patches in the Herk Web page. I thought that we E-Flighter\'s have been forgotten until you and a few former E-Flt members of Herk.com in our forum. You can also see pictures of our C-130\'s in \"Aircraft of Air America\'on the Air America.Org web site.

Thanks for the great memories again!

  5. Dear rje71,

The E-Flt patch with the COBRA is the\"REAL\" E-FLT patch. We used to wear it on our fatigues on our left shoulder above the stripes all the while we were back from our TDY\'s at home at CCK. The E-Flt Cobra Patch was \"OUTLAWED\" when we moved to Clark in Late 74,because things were getting more like stateside 35-10 Uniform GARBAGE.

I used to be able to get the patches made for about 15 Cents US each at a tailor in Taichung,Taiwan ( Wu Chuan Lu)area.

The patch with the eagle is probably for another unit, and it says \"e pluribus Manama\" there is a Manama in Bahrain so this patch is NOT a E-FLT patch and also we did not wear these on party suits or flt suits.

  6. I was at Forbes in 1969 to 1970 and I was in the 47th TAS as a E model Crew Chief Assistant of 64-0533 then 64-0509.I worked for Sgt Bob Crow and after another Crew Chief till I got orders for CCK in Taiwan. Forbes did alot of Mildenhall and Rhinemein rotations for 60 to 90 days at a time during those days with an ocasional rotation to Panama and Central and South America.

I will try to look thru my pictures to find some photos of Forbes Acft.

  7. Gary,

I worked with Charlie Brewer on Acft 515 as a crew chief and after Acft 7868 crewing with Fred Peffer. I spent all my time as a assistantC/C and then as crew chief while in E-flt and I deployed from CCK with e-flt from late 72 to Early 74 then till late 74 at Clark also. The guys called me \"shorty\" from a nickname my chinese friends in Taichung(Dirty Dozen) gave me. Do you remember Randy Odette,Tom Warhya,POPS Curfman,Jim Burnette,Charles Manny, and some of the other E-flt Crew Chiefs?
