    Spent 26+ years active USAF. Started flying Herks in 1971. After initial qual at LRAFB, I was initially stationed at CCK AB where I was assigned to 21TAS and was selected for E Flight. Finished tour in late 72 and assigned to Pope. Spent 3 years in the Aerial Port and requaled in the Herk in 76 with the 39TAS. After 3 years, went to Ft Hood, TX, as a TALO then to LRAFB as an IP in the 16TATS. In 83, went to Hickham and flew snatch and grab with the Test Group until it was closed down in 86. After a tour in Italy with NATO, returned to LRAFB to the 16TATS and retired from there in Jan 93.
    Went to work at the school house in Feb 99 and I'm still working part-time for Lockheed as a school house IP.

    There are 3 Herks on display at the Rock. One on base in Heritage Park, one at the main gate which is a Vietnamese B model and an early E at the off base education center. Don't have tail numbers or pics but could be gotten if you need them.
