  1. Update on Sam - He has come through all his surgery's without complications. He is awake and fully aware of where he is and all that is going on, all vitals are checking good. He's still off and on the breathing tube as his lungs try to adjust to coming off the ventilator and should be totally off sometime today. His biggest issue is he can't talk because of the tube and for those that know Sam - that's an issue. This too will mend. No word yet on when he'll be released to go home, but if I know Sam he want's out of there yesterday!
  2. Thanks for the update, many prayers sent his way!
  3. Actually it's about 36 hours to launch window. 24/25 April 1980. God bless them
  4. FINAL ROLL CALL By: Carroll R. Michaud Did you hear the sad news today? Another veteran warrior has passed away. Called by the Supreme Commander over all. Today he has made his final roll call. Come fellow vets; let us reverently bow and pray For our valiant comrade, who has fallen this day. We'll drape his casket with a banner of beautiful hues, Those glorious American colors: red, white and blue. That star spangled banner he gallantly fought to defend, Unyielding and undaunted, he fought to win. He fought bravely and he passed the battle test. Now the Supreme Commander grants him, "eternal rest". With dignity and honor, we'll commit his body to the ground, The bugler will sound "Taps" and we'll fire the volley rounds. The final military honors we'll render somberly and ever so sadly; "Old Glory" we'll solemnly precisely fold and reverently give to his family. Each Memorial Day we will recall our fallen comrade names, And attest that their selfless sacrifices were not in vain; For this lasting legacy they gave to all generations; "It's honorable to respect our flag and to defend our great nation." So close ranks aging warriors, for our ranks are thinning. We must keep on fighting and keep on winning. With pride and honor we'll march and stand tall, And we'll proudly - proudly - salute "Old Glory" Rest in Peace my Brother
  5. Not written anywhere that I know of - just know from some old left over brain cells, Welcome
  6. "Blade cuff lined up with the island on the spinner base" - is approximately 57-60 degrees
  7. Scott, Your Dad was a great guy. Sent you a PM request
  8. NATOPS1 - sent you pm with contacts for courseware
  9. NATOPS1 - pm me, I have contact information for Lockheed/AF courseware folks.
  10. Will see if I can get you the head of Lockheed's Courseware Dept. on Monday
  11. For those of you who may have known Bob, he has gained his Hercules Halo. C-130 Pilot, Retired Lt. Col Bob Kemmerer served in SVN, Clark AB, Pope, Dyess and Little Rock. Bob passed away in San Antonio TX this past weekend. No further details or obituary known at this time. Bob retired form Lockheed Martin in the spring of 2011 after 23 years training Hercules flight crews.
  12. know when things like this get into the media it sometimes sounds as if the sky is falling - but looking at parts of the budget proposal not so much maybe. All this is a proposal - DoD can't kill any programs without Congressional approval, although they can slow them down. Raises in TRICARE co-pays and premiums for Retirees; that's already happened, more to come and a lot easier to push through Congress. Reducing fuel buys and flying hours is easy to do and already in the works. Down-sizing/closing Units and mothballing airplanes; troop strengths and closing squadrons - Congress again. Mothballing airplanes - some of this has been on the agenda for a few years. However fewer troops to support means fewer airplanes needed, but most older airplanes will be lost to attrition. Also if you look at the proposal it's a 10 year plan. Many things can happen in 10 years and it makes the Pentagon look good for cutting the budget. Don't count on getting any iron back from Little Rock anytime soon.
  13. If the water didn't get any higher than that I would say minimal maintenance to get into flyable condition. St Joe's H-2's some years back during their big flood were in water up to the wing roots. They're flying today.
  14. 65-0962 (LPN 4102) was never a "Capsule" bird. Never had HF probe/long wire antennas, mouse ear air intakes, etc. Was used primarily as a pro trainer with 7ACCS/42nd.
  15. Hasn't changed - still Main DC bus. H model reference; look at page 1F-22
  16. Not to rain on anyone's parade but the -1 section and oxygen pressure stated above are incorrect: -1, Section 1T states "in a static system under no flow, the pressure should be 270-455psi. Under a continuous breathing condition, the pressure should read 270-340psi".
  17. Beyond 85c in NGI is not normal - that could be a prop blade angle issue. It usually happens from using a lot of reverse blade angle/thrust while taxiing. Can't speak to any study done on the different type oils.
  18. Yep, that's the oil cooler augmentation system. But it's a modification and that cost a chunk of change.
  19. A T-56 engine is a T-56 engine no matter how you cut it. You're pretty much stuck with LSGI and advancing the throttle to keep the oil cool - oil cooler flap full open. Limit is with or without augmentation but with augmentation you'll never see the oil get hot.
  20. Here is a link to a short video of 62-1787 arriving at WPAFB, short speech with Col. Caldwell http://www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/shared/widgets/popup.asp?url=http://www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/shared/xml/rssVideo.asp?mrsstype=2&id=69&cid=127&cnt=12&pos=2

  22. Only thing I could find, was the AC-130A models were modified with the AN/ARN-92C or -92D, beacon tracking radar. Later the Black Crow system was added as an enhancement to the beacon tracking radar. Can't help you much on the radome change but if memory serves me right the change was made with the 55 year models.
  23. Bob, your information is correct. Saw them yesterday setting on Tango row. All the right wings tips have damage, the#4 props have chunks out of 2 of the blades. Other various scrapes and gouges. The two 62's look to be the worst for wear.
  24. And especially to those brave young men who gave their last full measure of devotion in an attempt to rescue their fellow Americans. God bless them all!
