  1. Cool, that checks with my research so far. Thanks for the info!
  2. You are absolutely correct, I should have been more clear that the gear is chained \"in\" but where is that written as to why we chain it in. I can find in the USAF and Lockheed manuals where you can infer the wisdom of doing so but nowhere have I been able to see it spelled out clearly why we do so.
  3. I worked with the FE to check every aspect of the rudder and rudder trim with electrics and hydro applied during his preflight and the trim was dead on with the rudder in full left, center and full right. As the rudder was placed in each position the trim was moved through its full travel.
  4. Is the T-56A series IV another name for the -15 or is it some kind of an upgrade? I had also heard scuttle that there was a -21 variant in development..in words on that?
  5. HTF, I am sure that if enough of a change in symmetrical torque was applied then it would fly relatively straight. I believe the crew was too freaked by the problem to even consider adjusting the throttles and they are hesitant to take the aircraft airborne until something significant is corrected. I would fly it myself but current corporate policy dictates otherwise. What are your thoughts regarding the engine power settings?
  6. I have been assured by maintenance that the bird is not bent. They state they have done whatever checks are required to eliminate that as a possibility. This problem is relatively \"recent\".
  7. Even with gear and flaps up at cruise the aircraft is still experiencing yaw/roll issues. The aircraft requires 5 degrees rudder trim for the yaw and some aileron trim to counteract the roll.
  8. A question came in about why we chain the gear. We know what it says in the Flight Manuals, we have all been taught why we do it but is there anything written down officially or in tech form that says why we chain (or use tie down fitting) for a main gear malfunction.
  9. Does the EPSC come with the NP2000/54H60 prop? Is it stand alone? What are the performance numbers on the new prop? HP/Torque? MTBF? etc Can the new prop be mounted on the existing -15? If so are there any significant structural changes. How long would it take to mod an aircraft with the new prop?
  10. I have an aircraft that starts to pull to the left as it goes past 60 knots. When airborne the problem gets worse. First thoughts are Rudder. The technicians claim that the entire assembly has been re-rigged but it seems as if the problem has gotten worse. The props have been checked closely, the synchrophaser and autopilot LRU\'s were completely removed/depowered, the nose gear has been checked. I am still convinced the Rudder system is defective..thoughts?
  11. First off, GREAT SITE!!! Now for business... Are there any modifications or upgrades to the C-130E/H platform for the engines? Any engine that can be installed on the C-130 that goes beyond the capabilities the -15 engines currently provide? If there is no follow on engine is there an upgrade kit to the -15 that allow it to perform better, cheaper or higher reliability? The same question can be asked of the current propeller assembly and/or valve housing. I have heard that there is a \"Electronic\" Valve Housing that could replace the analog version currently in service. I am looking for similar updates/upgrades to the following systems: Air Conditioning Nose Landing Gear Dual Rails/Rollers Flight Control System (flaps, ailerons etc) Hydraulic System Winches (a replacement to the bulldog?) HUD I am looking for a comprehensive (preferably automated) ECM package that addresses threats in a \"permissive\" environment ie Manpads and radar guided AAA. Is there a system that you know of that provides a better bang for the buck than the current package installed on USAF airframes. Thanks in advance
