  5. I think it was the Delaware air guard lost one in flight back in the late 90's
  6. The old throttle cable tension regulators were spring loaded and if a cable broke it would go to full reverse or full throttle right now. They lost several aircraft on count of the old style regulators. They put a new ones on that it took so many seconds to go either to full power or full reverse so you had time to take action. To check the new ones out you had to fully depress the regulator and hold it I think 30 second and then release it and time it back to the preset tension. I had to change many out to the new style.

I was the crew chief on that aircraft in 1970 at Pope AFB.
  10. That gate (guard) on H models and older is controled by the touch down switchs. When the wheels comes off the ground the gate flips away, when the gear is on the ground it comes back over the lever. It is a safe guard to help from putting the gear on the ground.
  11. Does any body know how to get one of Lars Olausson Lockheed Hercules Production list. Thanks Melvin
  12. In the early 80s we took our B model out to Richards-Gebaur AFB Missouri for some fuel tank work and our plane was parked next to a 'A' model with blabber tanks. It was the first A model I saw bladder tanks They would not let us up in the flight deck so I did not get to look at the way they were set up. The paratroop doors had big square windows and it was a us military plane. I think the external tanks on the A model holds 470 gals.
  13. I have some pictures of howard johnson. the man and his wife ran the and he was in the thai army. Several of use done work on the place. Melvin
