  1. All,

I need some help with a print. Does anyone know what markings 62-1787 c/n [cn]3732[/cn] had on it SEA paint scheme in the mid early to mid 70s?

Did it have the TAC patch on the Tail?

Did it have a stripe at the top of the Tail? If so, what color?

Did it have a 374th TAW patch aft of the crew door?

What tail code did it carry?

The aircraft was assigned to the 21st TAS which I believed carried the DY tail code from 71 through at least 73. Can anyone confirm this? Anyone have pictures?

    Thanks!

    Casey

Casey, I have a dark picture of 62-1787 taken in Tan Son Nhut 1n 1971.

Email me at [email protected] and I'll sent it to you

  2. Vince, you must have replaced me. I remember Peffer, odette, brunette, pops, lurch and manney. I left in 1972.

Chiappetta, I remember you well from when you were on the Trash Haulers at CCK. Remember John Orris or Martinas? I never realised you were from Bever Falls. My Grandparents were from there.

  3. The CCK Gang'

My name Tommy Norton, I was at CCK from Aug 71 til we were moved to P.I. . I got into E Flight early 73, I was Asst. crew chief on 640497 David "Splash" Splawn was Crew Chief. I've got Vince Aquavelva in my sights, and looking for some of the other guys we served with. I would love to hook up with Lurch, I wonder if he still drives his honda, Ha! to this very day, I don't see how he got in and out of that car. Last time I heard about POPs, he was Saudia Arabia. Dave and Millie are still here in North Carolina, as am I. Vince, you seem to be pretty knowledgeable about CCK, do you know if we were on blanket orders (over on the lizzards) as far as going TDY. I went TDY on three different occasions while I worked on the camofloged birds, and I recently ordered my records from MO. and there are none of my orders are there with the exception of the one leaving Clark going to Keesler MS going to the 53rd Weather Wing. Do you ever talk to any of the guys? Drop me a line some time, I really would like to find some of the guys. I've got a lot of pics in the attic I'll have to post some of them.

    Talk to me guys,

    Tommy

Norton, I'm Jack braine and I remember you and Splawn. I remember you at TSN and you were a real worker!!.Splawn hung with Mike Newton (who I crewed with) and I have apicture of both of them. Do you remember Crew Chiefs Jimmy Ellis, John Orris or Gary Raddatz? Catch me at [email protected]

  4. In 1971 I was with a crew that did a buddy start in Na Trang. I was a Crew Chief and the A/C requested that I sit on the rear ramp on head set and let him know when the aircraft behind us had rotation. We threw up so much dust and trash in the air that I couldn't even see the aircraft. Regardless of the dirt, the buddy start worked out fine.

  5. Here are a couple pictures of 63-7775 on permanent display at Fort indiantown Gap in Pennsylvania. I was one of the many Crew Chiefs that took care of her over the years. I took her into Tan Son Nhut once in 1971.....I know many of you out there remember this Herk.

    Warmest Regards

  6. Sam,

I find this interesting. I attempted to search for information about this incident over the years and never found anything. I was stationed at Dover AFB in 1970 working the Flight Line on C-133’s. My roommate Bill Dubois was a wonderful human being from Boston. He said his brother was killed on a C-130 after being shot down during a reconnaissance mission over North Korea. Bill was not one to fabricate stories. I lost touch with Bill over the years. After Dover Bill served at Clark and the last I talked to him, he was at Andrews AFB in 1981. I imagine that Bill would be 61 years old now and retired from the Air Force, but I haven’t been able to locate him. I believe Bill would be able to help you out if you locate him.

  7. Alan,

I was a Floater. I remember Crewing 63-7771, 63-7773 and 63-7775. There were others. I would return to CCK on one plane and step on another and go back to TSN. Starting in March 1971 I went 126 days with only 4 days back in CCK. When Capt. Young, our Maintainance Officer found out, he made sure I got a break. 63-7773 is now on permanent display at Fort Indiantown Gap in Pennsylvania.

We most likely did cross paths

    Alan......

  8. Alan,

I would be be very interested in you book also. I am very glad you are writing it. You story needs to be told. I checked out you web page and I found it extremly interesting.

I was a C-130 Crew Chief operating out of CCK during Feb 1971 to March 1973. My tour of duty in SEA was a real eye opening experience for a kid from Lancaster County, Pa.

    Keep up the good work,

    Jack Braine
