Guest
10/31/2014 - LITTLE ROCK AIR FORCE BASE, Ark -- The 61st Airlift Squadron at Little Rock Air Force Base, Ark, received its newest C-130J Oct. 23, 2014, delivered by Gen. Mark Stough, Headquarters Air Mobility Command, director of strategic plans, requirements and programs. This marks the ninth C-130J to be delivered to the 61st AS and the seventh to the base within fiscal year 2014. Stough applauded Little Rock AFB for its continued support and success across the globe. The C-130J is the newest and most sophisticated of the C-130 models, slowly superseding the old, but always reliable C-130H. The Rock is the largest C-130 base in the world and is home to the C-130 Center of Excellence, the premier C-130 training school, with students from all over the globe, representing partnerships with 46 foreign nations. The C-130 airframe entered the Air Force in the 1950s, making it the longest continuous production of any military aircraft in history. Flying from Little Rock to Baghdad and everywhere in between, C-130s are truly one of the most reliable, capable and stoic icons of the U.S. Air Force.
