  1. The first patch that I got when I checked in to the 37th was exactly like that except it had 37th TCS on it. About 6 months later we all had to take them off and put on the patch you have above.

BTW the 316 TAW Langley Reunion 17 to 21 OCT at Wright Patt at the AF Museum. The AF Museum has just opened a new building, its 4th, and we will be dedicating a memorial bench to the 316th in the Air Force Garden of Remembrance.

It would be great to have a large group there.

  2. I had heard that. 908th are mostly 1985 H2 models with around 12000 hours on them.

    Niagara's H's are mostly 1991 H2's, with around 10000 hours on them.

Must be Robins deciding what to keep and what to park, if I was the 908th I'd rather keep the aircraft you had since they came from the factory, rather than aircraft you know nothing about, especially because the Niagara Herks are supposed to go to the Boneyard soon too.

  3. Fred

They had 5 A's and a B in the graveyard. I think someone sent me pics of all of them. TAM61 ex 57-0474, TAM63 ex 57-0481, TAM64 ex 54-1636,

TAM65 ex 55-0007, TAM66 ex 56-0536 (white) and TAM68 ex 61-0968 a B. I was told that TAM63 is the black ad herk, It had the ad for a sports drink, now coca cola. TAM 65 was a casino/cantina. One camo A has been repainted white for the Airpark. Leaving TAM 66( the white A) and another A, plus TAM 68 the B still out in the graveyard. Any help you can get figuring out what is what would be really appreciated.

  4. I am spending too much time today on Google Earth.

I was looking at El Alto Airport in La Paz Bolivia. I saw at their AF museum that they have added a C-130A. Pic attached.

It is white and the only A's that were white were TAM-69 CP-2184 3228 and Tam-66 CP-2187 3144.

3144 was in pretty bad shape, so I'm guessing the one in the Museum is 3228.

Anyone know for sure? Any pics?

  5. Anyone been to BA recently?

For a long time Argentina had stored 4 B's and 2 H's at the South end of the ramp at El Palomar airport. Mostly derelict, sort of like the old Cockroach Corner at Miami. Just recently they disappeared. Looks like they may have been scrapped. Does anyone know, what happened and were all 6 scrapped?

    Thanks

  6. Hi All,

Back in 2014 Brazil 2470 Lock 4441 suffered substantial damage landing in Antarctica.

I heard they had plans to repair it and fly it out. Does anyone know if it was repaired?

    Thanks

  7. Hi

Thanks for the replies. Here is what I have:

    At Hurlburt 56-0509 AC-130A, 64-0567 MC-130E, 65-0994 MC-130P, 69-6575 AC-130H all in the airpark.

At Little Rock 56-0518 C130A Gate Guard ex South Viet AF, 61-2362 preserved on base, 62-1829 preserved in Jacksonville.

Back in 2000 when USN cut out AVTEL at Mohave, they had three DC-130A's 57-0461, 57-0496, and 57-0497.

57-0497 after a short stint in VX-30 went to AMARG where it is on Display Road. 57-0496 and 57-0461 went to China Lake.

Originally 461 was going to the Museum and 496 was for weapons tests. 496 was  destroyed and 461 has just been sitting there.

I guess it is not going to the Museum?

  8. Happy New Year to Everyone!

I have been working on a listing with URL addresses and pictures of Herks preserved in Museums or on bases. I have about 75 so far. I could use some help on a few.

USAF 64-0541 was destined for AK Museum, was turned down and stored at Anchorage for a long time. Now AF Museum says it belongs to Elmendorf. Anyone know where it is?

There appears to be a Herk preserved at Konya AB in Turkey, anyone no what tail number or have a pic?

Indonesia C-130B T-1301 is preserved at Bandung, does anyone have a pic?

Canadian C-130E 130328 is in CFB Greenwood Museum, anyone have a pic of it restored and on display?

Tunisia C-130B TS-MTD preserved at Bizerte AB, anyone have a pic?

USAF C-130H 73-1598 at Great Falls ANGB MT, anyone have a pic of it on display?

USAF C-130H86-1391 at Rosecrans ANGB MO, anyone have a pic of it on display?

USN 570461 was supposed to be preserved at China Lake NAS CA. Was it preserved? any pics on display?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give,

    Bob

  9. I reported that he fell out based on a report way back in 2001 from Kim Anding, a crew member from Dyess in 1989.

He wrote "HE drop, 2 28 foot extraction chutes.Crew had to race track, relocked the platform then "forgot" to unlock it. Charles "Red" Alfred went aft to cut the extraction line and fell out"

  10. Thanks for the help.

    That is right the 327AS.

Three quick questions, when did 50AS close? I had heard they were an Associate Squadron?

What is the 714TS and do they own their aircraft? I heard it was not a flying Squadron?

Does AETC do what we used to call Phase one and Phase two training in the 62?

    Thanks again,

    Bob

  11. I read that 48 AS LRF is closing and its aircraft are going to the 62AS in AETC

I see that 41AS and 61AS are the AMC squadrons. Is there another AETC Squadron. The 50th Maybe?

I saw also that the AFRC 337AS is now an associate squadron and owns no aircraft and the ANG 154TRS is doing H model training.

    Thanks

    Bob

  12. Hi

You are correct Thanks, I think I changed it but I am computer challenged.

Here is what I have on it:

Heavy Equipment Drop with 2 28 foot extraction chutes. Crew had to racetrack after the 1 minute warning. Loads relocked the pallets but forgot to unlock them, when the chutes went out it caused the aircraft to decelerate. One of the loads went back to cut the chute and fell out.
