Center Wing Box

The availability of new center wing boxes from Lockheed seems to have the fate of many good airplanes in question. I really don\'t think that Lockheed actually builds the center wing box(maybe AVCO-Nashville), but rather, has a casting made by one supplier (to the Lockheed specification, naturally); and then Lockheed may do the machining, ie, drilling holes, grinding or milling surface areas; or they may even sub the machining out to their approved suppliers. The delivery rate is probably set to help control the cost--minimum premium time on the fabrication; standard delivery vs. expedited delivery of materials, etc. In a nutshell, the almighty dollar, controlling …

I was thinking it would be nice to see if after all of these years there are still some guys out there that are still looking for some word about their old friends. Especially in the late 60's to the early 70's. You know, the guys from Naha, CCK. Ubon, Tachikawa, Clark, Max Tan etc. All were Viet Nam Veterans probably! Maybe we could post a pic or two ---if we still remember how!!! I will try 1st: I know all of these people Ken ,

I'm trying to help a retired C-130 Crew Chief prove boots on the ground. He was based at CCK and did rotations to TSN with his plane, I have reached out to my Congressman, Steve Womack, to see if we can get a short cut to getting credit for Vietnam service. I was able to supply the Air Force documentation and photos that proved my service. I was lucky to have all my old travel vouchers. They sent me a letter acknowledging my Vietnam service. Most people are not as lucky. I am trying to quantify the number of C-130 squadrons that were based off shore. I was at CCK and we had three. I can't remember where the "A" and "B" models were PCS or where they based in Vietnam. Also …

Dear Herc Community ! I am looking for C-130E wings (a pair) for one of my clients, my question is about certain Part Numbers. The client is looking for Part No 3325526-3 & Part No 3325526-4; whereas, I am getting Part Numbers 3319674-1 & 3319674-2. My question is whether the Part Numbers 3319674-1 & 3319674-2 are alternatives (in-lieu) of Part No 3325526-3 & Part No 3325526-4 or not??? IF 'YES'; what's the reference??? Additionally, I would appreciate if anyone could help me find a pair of wings for one of my clients. Would appreciate help, Regards.

23 May 1969 A drunken U.S. Air Force assistant crew chief, Sgt. Paul Adams Meyer, 23, of Poquoson, Virginia, suffering anxiety over marital problems, started up a Lockheed C-130E Hercules, #63-7789, c/n 3856, of the 36th Tactical Airlift Squadron, 316th Tactical Airlift Wing, on hardstand 21 at RAF Mildenhall and took off in it at 0655 hrs. CET, headed for Langley AFB, Virginia. At least two North American F-100 Super Sabres of the 493d Tactical Fighter Squadron, RAF Lakenheath, a C-130 from Mildenhall, and two RAF English Electric Lightnings were sent aloft to try to make contact with the stolen aircraft. The Hercules flew over the Thames estuary and headed south towa…

Is "Ghost riders in the sky" still the great song among Gunship folks these days? I remember being in the company of some crazy S.O.Bs. in the NCO club at Kirtland , as soon as Ghost riders began to play (Johnny Cash version) these dudes started hooten and hollerin like a pack of mad dogs while standing damn near at full attention while hoisting their pitchers of beer all the while as the song played from start to finish. These boys were in town with one of their birds for an appt at the refurb shop. Helluva bunch of good folks though! Little did I know that years later later I would be joining those folks.

Hi, I'm trying to find some documentation that shows the screens and operation of the AMU in the C-130J but I haven't had any success yet. I'd love to get a copy of NAVAIR 01-75GAJ-1.2 because I know it has the info I'm looking for but I'd take anything that documents the AMU. I'd also love a copy of NAVAIR 01-75GAJ-1.1 (or equivalent) but it's not as critical. I'm working on a C-130 add-on for MSFS2020 and I think I have most of the information I need for the different variants but the AMU operation in the 'J' remains elusive so hopefully someone can help. Best regards, AMP.
