Many years ago, I was at a friend of the family's house. On their coffee table they had a book about C-130s. In this book they had a picture of the Orange Marine Corps C-130 in flight. The caption read something along the lines of "Transporting Sgt. Dave Davenport (or Sgt. Harold E. Davenport)." That is my father and it would mean a lot to me and my family if I could find a copy of that book. The problem is that I cannot find it until I find out the name of the Title and/or Author. If you know this book, please let me know. Thank you.

Hello fellow Herk lovers. It's been a long time since I last checked in. A few years in fact. Had some health problems to deal with and of course the day to day grind. I'm not real sure if this is the proper place for this "homecoming", but I'm sure it will get moved if need be. I scrolled around a bit before signing in and noticed a few names still left from the old days. I did not see MT Crewchief or gizzard, although over the past few years I have been in personal contact with both of them as well as lee Sills. I made the trip out to Montana several times and Ken and I have become good friends. Same thing with Paul, out East. He and his wife traveled to Wisconsin a cou…

So when did the spelling (or in this case the abbreviation) for Hercules change?? I don’t remember the alternate spelling showing up until roughly when the J started showing up. Is this coincidental ,or do I just hate the J that much? Or, am I just getting too old & grumpy?? I thought each generation was supposed to get smarter than the previous...

No load from Danang to TSN at the end of a crew day...Minimum fuel....Lets see how high we can get it... I had the best A/C on my crew that ever sat in the pilot seat.....He shall remain nameless however we got up to 36,500 feet with an empty plane and minimum fuel....It was a record at the time. Wondering if anybody beat it in an E Model... This was after take off at Da Nang where he got to 50 feet off the ground, cleaned it up and we were going about 250 knots as we crossed the end of the runway. He yanked the yoke in his lap and did a hard bank to the left and pulled off a wing over.....The tower just said...."Spare 223" that was pretty cool and good night.... …

Hello I have been trying to work out the visual differences between the transport/airlifter variants of the different C-130H models and earlier variants. For example how can I person identify a C-130H from a C-130G or C-130B or C-130E etc? Are their differences in shape of cabin window or engine nacelles or different escape doors etc. I have been looking at this on and off over the past 3 weeks. As of yet I have not really been able to identify any significant differences. Of course my eyes are not great. Well thanks for taking the time to read this and all the best.
