The United States military made history yesterday when it landed a C-130 aircraft on Highway 287 north of Rawlins during a joint training exercise. Moments after sunrise, the cargo plane burst through storm clouds to the east of the roadway at about 240 miles per hour. 500 feet off each wingtip was an A10. Known also as “flying guns,” A10’s are the Air Force’s primary low-altitude close support aircraft. Until yesterday, the Air Force had never landed a C130 on an American highway, although two A10’s landed on a Michigan highway earlier this month. Prior to that, such a feat had only been done in Estonia during the Cold War. With a wingspan of more than 132 feet,…

I am looking for a parachute signal / jump light / jump indicator from a C-130 or any Air Force plane that had it (C-141, C-5 or C-17). It does not need to be in working order....can be just the case with red / green lenses.

Anyone recognize this urinal? I have had it for a while and thinking of trying to get rid of it if I can get a deal that is worthwhile. Definitely cool to have around but I believe a collector may be more interested. Thinking of taking it down to the EAA Museum in Oshkosh and seeing if they want to display it. anyone know anything about these and if they are rare?

Would like any info on a C- 130 ABCCC I was sent to Tan Son Nhut in 1965 as the crew chief. I know it was used as a command ship for the air war and Rolling Thunder. The crew stayed downtown at the Majestic Hotel in Saigon by the river. The aircraft was parked across the runway for the main base. I know the bomb dump was behind us which wasn't a good feeling. Call sign of the aircraft was "Headshed". I was relieved in December 65 by Ken Moser who is a site member and we were assigned to the 314 TCW at Sewart, Tenn. which was moving to CCK Taiwan at the time. Looking for serial number and whatever happened to the bird. Both Ken and I were discharged in 1966 and I know a l…

AC-130J #1 that went inverted while in OTE at Eglin (damaged beyond repair)…now ground trainer at Kirtland. Congrats to our teammates in the Simulators Division on the recent successful delivery of an Enhanced Fuselage Training Device to the 58th Special Operations Wing at Kirtland Air Force Base! Working in partnership with various stakeholders, to include Lockheed Martin and Air Force Special Operations Command, the division led an effort to convert an operational MC-130J aircraft – which had sustained damage – to a training device that will provide realistic simulation capabilities for approximately 200 MC-130J and HC-130J loadmasters and specia…

Many years ago, I was at a friend of the family's house. On their coffee table they had a book about C-130s. In this book they had a picture of the Orange Marine Corps C-130 in flight. The caption read something along the lines of "Transporting Sgt. Dave Davenport (or Sgt. Harold E. Davenport)." That is my father and it would mean a lot to me and my family if I could find a copy of that book. The problem is that I cannot find it until I find out the name of the Title and/or Author. If you know this book, please let me know. Thank you.

Hello fellow Herk lovers. It's been a long time since I last checked in. A few years in fact. Had some health problems to deal with and of course the day to day grind. I'm not real sure if this is the proper place for this "homecoming", but I'm sure it will get moved if need be. I scrolled around a bit before signing in and noticed a few names still left from the old days. I did not see MT Crewchief or gizzard, although over the past few years I have been in personal contact with both of them as well as lee Sills. I made the trip out to Montana several times and Ken and I have become good friends. Same thing with Paul, out East. He and his wife traveled to Wisconsin a cou…
