  1. We were talking about Don yesterday. I flew with him a lot at Langley and we stayed in touch for years. After he retired, he was chief pilot for First Miss Corp in Jackson MS and he used to fly to Dallas a lot and we got together. His daughter sent me an e mail about his passing. I looked for and never found an obit.

    He was one of the best pilots I ever flew with and a great friend.

  2. SAC MAC and TAC were only in the CONUS.

    USAFE, PACAF, and Southcom gained SAC, MAC and TAC units tdy. USAFE and PACAF also had their own units assigned.

    In 73, 37TAS and a Dyess SQ were TAC units assigned to PACAF at CCK, there were also 4 PACAF Herk sqdns at CCK at the time.

    2 ex Patrick H's made it to AMARG 64-14855 and 69-5824

    MT ANG sent 74-1690 already sent 73-1597

    Pitt AFRC sent 78-0807,0808, 0810 already sent 0809

    Savannah ANG sent 80-0320 and 325

    Reno already sent 79-0474

    82-0058 which was at Elmendorf awhile ago, showed up last month

  4. The externals added weight and drag, but as I remember, only 30 years ago, the B's had full boost hydraulic pressure to the flight controls and the E's were deboosted, don't know if that is a word, but had lower pressure to the flight controls because of stress caused by the externals.

    Airliners is incorrect on this one. I took a trip to Sheppard around 2004.

    53-3131 was still being used as an aeromed trainer in a lot over by the civilian terminal.

    I don't know how to attach pics but 2 pics I took of it then are in the Gallery 3003 and 3003B.

    I know it was there with 58-0727 about 2011 then 727 went to Camp Bullis near SAT as an Aeromed trainer, 61-2361 came over to that lot at Sheppard and 53-3131 disappeared.

    BTW 74-1658 just arrived at Wright Patt for use as an Aeromed trainer
