  1. We did have 56-0471 along with 56-0477 56-0479, 56-0480, 56-0482, 56-0486, 56-0488 (crashed on Sewart 1962 I see it burn) 56-0490, 56-0499. 56-0505. I know I messed some. We even had some 54's, 2 B's and 17 E's 61-2359 to 61-2366 & 62-1801 to 62-1804 62-1808 to 62-1812 All new from factory. We receive 471 in 1962 in the 4451st CCTS and it very soon after became the 4442nd CCTS. I worked on it out of the engine shop from 62 until I was asigned to the 314TH FMS in Nov of 65. 471 was assigned to us from a Sewart unit and most likely the 463rd. The 4442nd was changing some aircraft out about the time I departed so it could have been one of them
  2. I left Tennessee on Jan 10th 1966 with the 50th for the move. We were at Clark for about 3 weeks until CCK was ready for us. 50th was the 1st at CCK and we lived in tents and also worked out of large blow-up tents. The 345th arrived soon after us followed by the 776th. I was in the 314th engine shop and worked in engine conditioning. Yes CCK had aircraft and opened in 1966! I was in the 314th at Sewart and was part of the move. Living in tents in February with the rain was no fun. C-130E's were on CCK in February 1966. We cane over with the 1964 Aircraft. I was on 64-0536. In early 66 it was called Kung Kuan AB I have TDY orders issued by 314th TCW Kung Kuan AB 20 Feb 66 and TDY orders to Taipei AS issued by 314th TCW issued 3 May 66 Ching Chung Kang AFB. The name was changed between dates and I remember it but not the exact date. .
  3. Was anyone at CCK to open it in 1966. I arrived in February 1966 and departed February of 1967. I have some pictures of Taichung and several of CCK as buildings were being built. If interested I will post more. I like our old bus stop and the bus to Taichung.

Hi! It has been 44 years and I sure loved to see the pictures of Taichung. I was in the 4442nd at Seward AFB and in December of 1965 was assigned to the 314th FMS engine conditioning shop to prepare for a PCS to Taiwan with the wing. January of 1966 I was assigned to the 50th for the move. We departed Seward on the 10 of January 1966 on aircraft 64-0536 (new from the factory but was lost in 1970) and ended up at Clark AFB for about 3 weeks as CCK was not ready for us. In February of 1966 we arrived at CCK and worked out of and lived in tents. (that was bad but we made up for it with the food like steaks cooked outside on a grill OUTSTANDING food) I got off my story! The move was so secret that we could not tell our wives where we were going. Our orders didn't even state it. The day after we arrived we decided to take a trip to Taichung. Our first stop was at club 36 the enlisted club that was in Taichung at that time. (needed to tank up) The next stop was the Playboy club. This gets me to my story as this move was so secret we could not tell our wives. In neon lights was a sign WELCOME 314th TCW. Some secret! The new chow hall opened up in the early fall of 1966 and the enlisted club near Christmas of 1966.My enlistment was up in March of 1966 and I had to take a steam engine train to Taipei by myself to enlist again but I made it. I departed CCK in February of 1967 and took that taxi ride to Taipei and to this day I don't know how we made it.
  7. I don't have a picture of 7777 but I was in the engine shop and worked on her. 7777 arrived at CCK in early 1966 with the 776th from pope AFB. 345th came with all 62 models 776th with all 63 models and I came with the 50th with all 64 models. 50th was with the 314th at Sewart AFB. We all became the new 314th at CCK. Worked out of and lived in tents for a good part of 1966. We had all new 64 models so all the aircraft were split up so all had some of each year.
  8. I sent pictures of 62-1831 and 62-1853 missing from production gallery back in 2008 but never posted. How do you get them posted?
  9. I worked on 471 at Sewart AFB Tenn From 1962 until I departed with the 50th TCS to open CCK Taiwan in January of 1966. 471 was assigned to the 4442nd CCTS at Sewart. I was in the engine shop and I know 471 very well as it was a real dog for the engine shop. We had one engine that would loose electronics everytime it broke ground. It took us forever to find what was doing it.(a wire in the wing) 471 spent most of it's time on I row the run up area. 471 was still with the 4442nd at the time I was assigned to the 50th and departed on 64-0536 for CCK on 10 January 1966.
